The Top 4 Kosher Restaurants in Vancouver for a Taste of Jewish Tradition

kosher-restaurants-vancouver

Finding legit and good Kosher food can sometimes feel like a scavenger hunt.  You either end up in a place that’s overpriced or one that just doesn’t taste right.

Even though I’m not Jewish, I have a real appreciation for Kosher dining. The food measures up to excellent hygiene standards, and the fresh ingredients make it ultimately healthier for you.

So, from classic delis to modern fusion restaurants, these are my favorite spots – tried-and-true Kosher restaurant classics.

1. Maple Grill

Address: 1965 W Broadway

Hours: Sunday to Thursday – 12 PM to 9 PM

Phone: +1 604-738-7060

Price: $$

Every dish at Maple Grill is prepared with the utmost care and respect for kosher traditions. This means strictly separating meat and dairy products and sourcing all meat from humanely slaughtered and certified kosher animals.

The kitchen also operates under the watchful eye of a qualified mashgiach (kosher supervisor), so you can rest assured that every bite is authentic and delicious.

Their menu is full of vibrant dishes celebrating Jewish and international cuisine from Tokyo to Turkey. You’ll find things like delicate tuna tataki (lightly seared tuna slices with a tangy ponzu sauce) to hearty Turkish Arayes (beef-stuffed pita with plenty of spices).

But their true specialty is Mediterranean BBQ—smoky, char-grilled goodness that will have you craving more. I usually order their tender, juicy grilled chicken. I love the savoury smokey flavour that seeps into the chicken after it’s been on the grill.

Pro Tip: If you’re looking for a special Shabbat meal (a traditional Jewish Sabbath celebration), check out their takeout menu. It’s available for ordering only on Thursdays until 8 PM for pick-up on Fridays.

2. Sabra Kosher Bakery & Restaurant Ltd

  • Sunday to Thursday – 9:30 AM to 8 PM
  • Friday – 8 AM to 4 PM

Sabra Restaurant and Bakery offers a taste of home for anyone seeking a delicious kosher meal. It’s the kind of place where you can find both classic Jewish comfort food and exciting, modern twists on traditional dishes.

Their menu is a mix of ethnic, West Coast fusion, and traditional meat and parve (non-dairy) options. You’ll find yourself drawn to classic Jewish dishes like hummus, tahini, falafel, and shakshuka, each prepared with the utmost care and flavor.

But the real star of the show is their bakery. Their delicious poppy seed challah (my favorite) and their custom-designed cakes are a hit.

Pro Tip: Need catering? Sabra offers Israeli, Sephardic, and Ashkenazi-style foods for a wide range of events, from weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to Shabbat dinners and holidays.

Nava Creative Kosher Cuisine is delicious and deeply respectful of kosher traditions. Every dish is a masterpiece, prepared with the highest standards of kosher observance.

They are popular for their Kiddush Luncheon. You can choose from delectable dishes like salmon hareime with tangy olives, tomatoes, chickpeas, and harissa.

Or try my favourite—Susy’s Cheese Blintzes; it’s a comforting classic, and you’ll find yourself savouring every bite.

Nava Creative also offers full-service catering for events of all sizes, as well as takeout and delivery options, making it easy to enjoy their delicious kosher food at home or on the go.

Pro Tip: If you love sweets, their apple bundt cake is a must-try. It’s moist, scrumptious, and perfectly spiced—I get it every time I order from here.

4. Reuben’s Deli by Omnitsky

  • Monday to Thursday – 10 AM to 6 PM
  • Friday – 9 AM to 4 PM

Reuben’s is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re stepping into a classic Jewish deli—the whiff of freshly sliced corned beef and pastrami going up your nose. They adhere to strict kosher dietary laws, so you don’t have to be cautious about the food here.

Their menu features classic dishes like gluten-free hot dogs, roast beef, and more. They also make homemade soups from scratch daily. Their chicken noodle and matzo ball soup are always pretty good.

But what I normally get here is their deli sandwiches. They’re available in two sizes: regular 5 oz. or their “Epwich” 8 oz.

All their meats are sourced locally from artisan sausage makers, so the flavors are authentic, and the quality is top-notch.

Pro Tip: Give their “Reuben Kosher” sandwich a try—corned beef, steamed sauerkraut, 1000 Island dressing, and flat-grilled to perfection.
