Gourmet Goodness: Top Catering Services in Vancouver

Gourmet Goodness Top Catering Services in Vancouver

Vancouver’s food culture emphasizes sustainability, embracing locally sourced produce and capitalizing on its coastal location. This translates into abundant seafood, fresh fruits, and vibrant leafy vegetables prevalent in the city’s culinary scene.

That said, if you’re planning a Vancouver wedding or party, we highly recommend hiring the best catering the city has to offer, especially if you want to impress your guests with true West Coast flavours.

We narrowed down the best catering services in Vancouver to help you take some load off the planning process––and spend a day doing rounds of tasting tests to fill your stomach!

How much does hiring a catering service in Vancouver cost?

Catering services in Vancouver costs roughly $35 to $60 per person. On average, you’ll be spending around $2,300 to $3,500 to feed at least 50 guests.

Caterers will usually charge you based on the number of guests, location, menu options, and additional services you might request, such as bartending, venue decor, and other third-party rentals.

How We Chose

Credentials and Experience: We chose caterers that have been in the catering business for at least 10 years and have been named as preferred vendors for major associations or venues such as the Vancouver Opera, the Olympics, and the Museum of Anthropology.
Range of Cuisine and Menu Options: We selected caterers that offer clients the flexibility to personalize their menus and vary dishes according to their preferences and dietary needs. Our criteria included caterers providing options for vegan and vegetarian menus as well as cuisines like West Coast, French, and Barbeques.
Guest Capacity: We selected caterers capable of catering events ranging from intimate private dinners to large-scale weddings. We also took into account their minimum and maximum guest requirements for booking their services.
Scope of Services: We selected caterers providing diverse services such as meal preparation, buffet options, plated dinners and grill stations for various events like weddings, bridal showers, and birthdays. Additionally, we considered caterers offering event planning, logistics, and meal delivery services.

Satisfying food

“Savoury City just nailed it! I needed to organize an event for 95 of our clients the past Friday, so I got in contact with them and Matias and Sarah helped me to make it happen! We ordered their “Afternoon Tea” menu + coffee and soft drinks. It was delivered perfectly on time, with trays, pates, cuttlery, thongs, cups etc. They help me to set it all up on the tables and left us with a couple of framed menus to put around. We received veggie plates, different types of sandwiches, fruit plates, and several more with desserts. All our guests were happy and satisfied with the food so I would definitely recommend them. Thank you!!”

Staff are a joy to work with

“Savoury City catered our backyard summer wedding and did such a fantastic job! From start to finish, Donna was a joy to work with, and always made us feel at ease. We had so many compliments from guests about how incredible the food was. Our canapés and family style menu included a range of signature Savoury City dishes, along with a few special requests from my husband and I.They totally nailed everything. It was also very handy that the Savoury team could provide bartending services. They did a great job with that too.”

Lots of menu options

“Louis Gervais catered our wedding in August 2022. We considered several options for catering and did multiple menu tastings. We found the menu tasting offered by Louis Gervais was on another level, both in the quality of the food and the customer service from their entire team. After that it was an easy choice. The meals and the hors d’oeuvres at the wedding were a highlight for everyone. We highly recommend Louis Gervais FFC to anyone looking for a great event caterer.”

Flavourful food

“Louis Gervais catered our daughter’s wedding on November 4, 2023 and we received many compliments on the food.  Some said it was the best tasting food that they have ever had at a wedding.

We agreed. The appetizers and buffet dinner were very flavourful.”

Delicious dishes for the family

“We enjoyed an amazing catered meal for our friends backyard wedding (M&J). All the food was plated so well and served family style (see pics for details!). Would certainly recommend as they just come in cook all these delicious dishes in your own kitchen and serve them. The only drawback for ourselves is that we live out the province. Definitely recommend them for your events.”

Quick to handle last-minute changes

“We worked with Supper Club YVR a couple times for our clients’ private events. We can’t say enough great things about their services and food! They’re incredibly easy to work with, always quick to handle last-minute changes. We had a few unexpected alternations to guests dietary requirements and they handled these adjustments with grace and efficiency. And let’s not forget about the food – It was absolutely delicious! The variety they offered was impressive and our clients couldn’t stop raving about how delicious everything was. One more thing that impressed us was they left our kitchen spotless clean after the event. Highly recommend!”

Reliable caterers

“Edge Catering are the most reliable and professional catering company I have came across in my 10 years of DJing events/weddings. The food is always top-notch and tastes great. Supportive caterers

“My partner and I recently had the pleasure of working with Amanda and the Edge team. They provided bar and buffet service for our wedding reception. The experience was fantastic!

Amanda supported us early on with menu planning, venue layout, and supported our event ideas like welcoming all of our guests with sparkling wine as they entered the rooftop patio for cocktail hour. We did a tasting of our menu a couple of months before the party and Edge was accommodating to tweak the menu.”

Initially managing all tasks themselves, they later transformed the venture into a fully staffed buffet or plated dinner catering service specializing in West Coast flavours.

Their menu features locally grown and organic produce like apples, mushrooms, and seafood in their menu items.

Moreover, they offer customized menus to accommodate dietary preferences and can arrange cocktail or dessert bars upon request, or manage third-party vendors.

Over 40 years later, Susan still enjoys cooking but now leads a team of chefs and catering managers at The Lazy Gourmet.

They can cater for weddings, corporate events, private dinners, birthdays, and large-scale events such as balls and national celebrations. Notably, they worked in prestigious events like the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, the PGA Tour, and the Dalai Lama Conference.
