It all started with what I thought was a simple weekend cleanup. I went into the garage planning to make space for the second car. I came out three hours later, buried under boxes of important stuff I hadn’t seen for years.
Between the old office gear I swear I’ll use again and the growing pile of family must-haves, it’s safe to say storage space at home has officially tapped out.
If that sounds a little too familiar, maybe it’s time to think outside the garage. Vancouver’s got plenty of car storage options, and they’re a lifesaver.
So, to save you the hassle, we’ll be sharing what our team has scoped out to be the best car storage in the city. These are also the ones I considered when I finally decided to give our second car a proper home.
How much does car storage cost in Vancouver?
Car storage in Vancouver generally ranges between CAD 300–600 per month for indoor or more secure storage.
1. Sentinel Storage – Vancouver

Address: 8866 Laurel St
Phone: +1 604-260-1983
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 5 AM – 7 PM
- Saturday: 6 AM – 5 PM
- Sunday: 6 AM – 3 PM
Sentinel Storage is very versatile when it comes to its car storage offerings.
Their 10’ x 20’ units are the go-to for most cars. They’re roomy enough to store your daily ride or that classic you only bring out in summer.
But if you have a big truck, the 20’ x 30’ spaces are basically garage goals. We also like how they make manoeuvring in and out painless. There’s even smaller storage for motorcycles and outdoor space for boats and RVs.
Their drive-up units also make a lot of sense for car owners who want to store their vehicles through the damp winters.
It’s not climate-controlled storage, but for anyone just trying to keep their car dry and safe until spring, it’s a solid option.
People who’ve used the place seem to agree on a few things: it’s clean, well-kept and easy to get around.
Staff also get big points, especially for being flexible. We heard that they’ll make sure you can access your unit even if your schedule’s all over the place.
However, the billing cycle’s a little sneaky. Instead of monthly payments, they bill every 28 days. You’ll end up making 13 payments a year instead of 12.
The facility is clean, directions are clear, and hours of access
“…The facility is clean, directions are clear, and hours of access is great as most of the time I need to go is later in the evening. There are dollies to help you move stuff in or out. It’s a two-level facility with an elevator and all ramps, no stairs. There are spots for cars, vans, and two loading docks for trucks. They have locks on site if you don’t have one available – they accept a special type of cylinder lock, but you can also use a standard padlock if it fits in the handle.”

Definitely recommend this location
“Rocio, who helped me through the entire process, was honestly the best part. She was helpful, kind, straightforward, efficient, and she even accomodated me for checking in to my storage unit after their office hours. I was lucky I got a promotion, and in the short time I had used the unit, I could say that it was clean, trolleys were plentiful, and I had no issues with parking. Definitely recommend this location for anyone needing a storage unit in the area.”

2. Public Storage

Address: 1698 W 3rd Ave
Phone: +1 778-654-7187
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9:30 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 9:30 AM – 5 PM
Public Storage focuses purely on outdoor vehicle storage, so don’t expect garage-style units or covered bays. But what they do offer is space, and they’ve got lots of it.
Whether you’re parking a small car or even a boat, there’s a spot that fits.
Now, let’s talk security, because that’s often the dealbreaker when it comes to outdoor storage. Their lots are fenced, camera-monitored, and well-lit, which makes a big difference at night.
Several customers mentioned how comfortable they were leaving company vehicles or RVs there for months, and that really says something.
What gives them the edge, though, is the staff. Over and over, people mentioned how helpful and communicative the team is. They would always keep their customers in the loop about new units and help them handle all the paperwork smoothly.
Their prepayment deals are also a nice touch. You can pay for six months, get a discount, or pay for a year and snag an extra month free. It really makes long-term storage feel like less of a financial sting.
That said, the catch was that it’s all outdoors. That means no shelter from rain, sun, or the occasional bird that mistakes your car for target practice.
Michael and his team are unparalleled in their performance
“Michael and his team are unparalleled in their performance. Michael went the extra mile, constantly updating me on any newly available units and providing exceptional assistance with all the paperwork, payment, and other related matters. We have 2 units rented as well as parking for my company vehicle.”

3. Downtown U-Lok Storage

Address: 915 E Cordova St
Phone: +1 604-215-2156
Business hours:
- Monday: 8 AM – 7 PM
- Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday to Friday: 8 AM – 7 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 9 AM – 5 PM
The underground car storage option at Downtown U-Lok Storage caught our attention. For $419 a month, you get a 9’ x 17’ monitored space that’s protected from Vancouver’s unpredictable weather.
It’s not cheap, but when you consider that street parking in the area can be risky, it starts to feel worth it.
The fact that only one space remained when we checked in says a lot about demand. Clearly, those who’ve parked here tend to stay.
After talking to customers, we also found out how genuinely friendly and helpful the staff are here.
The location is another big plus. Being downtown means you can just walk over, grab your car, or pop in if you’re storing equipment or a bike.
One customer mentioned living just 15 minutes away on foot, and we know that convenience is a luxury.
Now, it’s not perfect. The parking hours are limited to business hours (especially considering your vehicles would be underground). So if you suddenly need your car at midnight, you’re out of luck.
Staff are very friendly and helpful from the get-go
“Been looking for a vehicle storage facility in Vancouver for some time now, and found a wonderful location a few months back called U-Lok Storage. I already have a car here, but I needed room for my 2 motorcycles as well. After constant inquiries for more space, the facility came up with a solution for me, and it works wonderfully. Staff are very friendly and helpful from the get-go. Highly recommend for ALL storage needs.”

4. Vancouver Self Storage

Address: 9025 Oak St
Phone: +1 604-267-7867
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 6 AM – 9 PM
Vancouver’s Self Storage’s biggest strength is its accessibility. Here, there are no elevators, no long hallways, no awkward turns—all of these for easier navigation.
It’s especially handy if you’ve got tools or car gear to unload or if you’re the type who likes to check in on your vehicle now and then.
The ground-level design feels like it was made with car owners in mind, and we really liked that.
Security-wise, they’ve done their homework. The entire yard is gated with keypad entry, and there are cameras everywhere. There is even bright lighting at night and regular patrols. A few people even said they felt comfortable visiting after dark.
And then there’s Barry and his team, who seem to be the friendly, reliable folks you actually don’t mind bumping into.
That said, not everything runs perfectly. One customer wasn’t thrilled about losing their $100 deposit after cancelling early. It sounds like the company’s pretty strict with its policies.
Parking your vehicle here costs about $200 a month. We find it fair, given the security setup and drive-up convenience.
The only catch is that they can’t take anything over 20 feet long. So if you’ve got a massive truck or trailer, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
The location is safe and convenient
“Glad to share that we’ve been clients of Vancouver Self Storage for over 10 years, and it’s been a consistently excellent experience. The team is small, friendly, and incredibly reliable—always ready to help with professionalism and care. The location is safe and convenient, and the quality of the storage units is top-notch.”

I like how clean the place is kept as well
“Stored my trailer and boat there for 5 weeks while on a couple of different trips, and in the middle needed to come grab it and then put it back. Got the best price in the area and was around the corner from the Airport, next time I’ll check if getting an Uber is cheaper, and I’ll just park my truck here as well. I like how clean the place is kept as well.”

5. Black Mountain Storage

Address: 2150 Pandora St
Phone: +1 604-398-5233
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 7 AM – 8 PM
Black Mountain Storage balances its security and accessibility in a charming way. They have 24/7 gated access, private entry, and cameras covering every inch.
You don’t need to book an appointment or wait for someone to let you in. You get your own access code and can come and go as you please.
The setup seems so easy too. Once you book online, you get all your details like your gate code, parking spot, and even a move-in video to walk you through everything.
Customers say communication is smooth and straightforward, with quick responses by text and email.
Add in the location. Being close to downtown Vancouver, Highway 1, and North Vancouver means your vehicle is never too far away when you get that sudden urge to go for a Sunday drive.
The facility sits in an underground parkage, which naturally keeps things cool and dry as well. It’s a huge plus for anyone storing a classic vehicle that needs a stable environment.
If we had to nitpick, we’d say the lack of pricing on the website is a head-scratcher. It’s a small thing, but most people like to know what they’re getting into before they start filling out forms.
Their lot was secure and exactly as advertised
“Great experience at every interaction – text with questions, full and complete emails, booking and exiting. Their lot was secure and exactly as advertised. Will use them again.”
