The 5 Top DJ Services in Vancouver That Know How to Keep the Crowd Moving

top-dj-vancouver-banner
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Experience and Skill: We chose DJs who have performed at different types of events. They must be strong at reading the crowd and adjusting the music to keep everyone engaged.

Music Selection: We looked for DJs with a wide range of music and who could tailor playlists based on customers’ preferences.

Professionalism: We focused on DJs who were easy to communicate with before the event and punctual on the day itself.

Adaptability: We appreciated DJs who could handle unexpected moments, like last-minute changes or technical issues.

Pricing and Packages: We compared different pricing options to make sure these DJs offered good value for their services. Some provide lighting, MC services, and extra hours at reasonable rates.

As someone who basically lived through college, hopping from one party to another, I’ve learned a thing or two about what makes a night unforgettable. It’s always the parties where a DJ is at the centre of it all.

You can tell the difference right away—when the music flows perfectly from one track to the next, and the DJ just gets the vibe of the crowd. They know when to drop a banger, when to slow it down, and how to keep everyone on their feet all night long.

So, if you’re planning a party and want to make sure the energy never drops, check out our team’s top DJ picks in Vancouver. They know exactly how to turn any night into a memorable one.

How much do DJ services cost in Vancouver?

DJ services in Vancouver usually cost around $100–$300 per hour for small events, while weddings typically range between $1,000 and $1,8000 for about 4–6 hours.

1. Elev8 Entertainment

Business hours: Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours

The guys at Elev8 Entertainment are planners, vibe curators, and energy keepers all rolled into one.

Most of the people we heard from had Elev8 at their weddings, but the team can also handle private parties and corporate events.

Greg was often mentioned during our research. Clients remembered how he turns up months before to check the venue, figure out sound setups, and talk logistics with the staff.  It’s very impressive since he can take a huge load off your mind.

They know how to read the crowd too. They’ve got this sixth sense for timing. Guests at weddings said they didn’t want the night to end.

Elev8 also sets up shared playlists and stays in touch throughout the planning process. You can suggest song ideas whenever inspiration strikes. They listen, but also know when to take the reins.

That said, their website doesn’t show rates or packages, so you’ll need to reach out for a quote.

It’s not a dealbreaker, but it can be a bit annoying if you like to compare options before picking up the phone.

Pros

  • Highly organised
  • Professional
  • Excellent crowd reading skills
  • Collaborative and flexible
  • Versatile services
  • Reliable team

Cons

  • Lack of transparent pricing

We were told many times over the next week what a great DJ we had

“Greg was incredible. We scoped out the wedding venue together months in advance so he would be perfectly prepared on the day (he was). He also linked us with a shared note in advance so we could share our music choices whenever they struck us. The day of the wedding, his setup was seamlessly in the background and ended up sounding great. The night ended in dance, and we were told many times over the next week what a great DJ we had. His music choices kept people living it up on the dance floor. I highly recommend Elev8.”

Working with them was a breeze

“Had the pleasure of having Greg and Ryan DJ at our wedding event, and working with them was a breeze. They listened to all my requests and made the night absolutely memorable by playing songs we wanted to hear and adding in songs that fit the vibe. My wife and I got a lot of compliments on how fun the dance floor was and how the songs were perfectly queued throughout the night. If you need a couple of DJs to help you throw your event, definitely look no further than these guys. Amazing work, thanks again!!!”

If there’s one thing we learned about Hot Wax Entertainment, it’s that they’ve been in the game long enough (over 40 years) to know exactly how to make a party unforgettable.

What sets them apart is how organised they are. You can tell they’ve fine-tuned their system over the years.

They quickly reply to emails and even have an easy online form that can help clients pick their music. It’s like they’ve taken all the stress out of event planning.

Then there are their DJs, and people couldn’t stop talking about them. They know how to drop the perfect song. We’ve heard about instances where guests stay glued to the dance floor all night.

Hot Wax doesn’t stop at music, either. They’ve got LED uplighting that can transform your space and a photobooth service for those goofy group shots.

This full-package setup is nice for those who don’t want to hire multiple companies.

They’re just a bit pricey, but considering their experience and good feedback, we say it’s worth the shot.

Pros

  • Over 40 years of experience
  • Well-organised
  • Clear and quick communication
  • Skilled DJs
  • Extra services available
  • Reliable reputation

Cons

  • Relatively higher pricing

From beginning to end, they were on top of every aspect

“We hired Hot-Wax for our wedding in Vancouver and they certainly delivered. From beginning to end, they were on top of every aspect. From quick replies to my emails during the coordinating to ensuring all of our requests came to fruition. On the big day, we had DJ Mike. He was on time and set up his gear quickly. He hit all the cues for the ceremony and reception music as well as a few other requests we had made.”

Cannot say enough good stuff about our experience

“Mike from Hot Wax was awesome! Super energetic, super nice. Played all the music we wanted to hear, knew all the song queues for dances. Cannot say enough good stuff about our experience. The dance floor was packed all night! Give these people a call for your DJ/photobooth needs!”

What made Airwaves Music unique to us is how they assign you a dedicated event manager who takes care of all the behind-the-scenes logistics. This includes the timing, sound setup, and communication with the venue.

It’s a lot more polished than what you’d expect from your typical DJ service. For event planners who already have a hundred other things to worry about, this support is amazing.

We also loved their online dashboard. It’s a planning portal where you can list your must-plays, do-not-plays, and even leave little notes about your guest’ music taste.

However, some people mentioned that a few of their requested songs didn’t make it into the final mix.

Their DJs, especially Owen and Kal, get a ton of love from past clients. They know when to drop a nostalgic crowd-pleaser and when to switch things up with something unexpected.

One guest even joked that their DJ was basically “the best childcare ever” because the kids didn’t stop dancing until dessert came out.

It’s also assuring that they have a backup DJ ready to go if anything goes on.

Pros

  • Dedicated event manager
  • Professional and polished process
  • Custom planning dashboard
  • Skilled DJs
  • Backup DJ-ready

Cons

  • Occasional missed song requests

Airwaves Music was FANTASTIC!

“Airwaves Music was FANTASTIC! Owen was the perfect DJ for us. As soon as we had our initial call, we could tell he understood our taste and how to make our playlist suit the energy of a wedding dance floor. We even threw a few curveballs to Owen at the last minute, and he enthusiastically came through on everything! His energy throughout the night kept everyone entertained, and about a dozen different people came up to us to say they’ve never been to a wedding with such good music…”

Working with airwaves made all my worries disappear

“Working with airwaves made all my worries disappear. Our DJ was also the emcee for the night, and it was great! We had Owen, and he was so good. Great with announcements and keeping us on time. He also checked in with us periodically through the night to see how things were going, which I appreciated.”

4. Van DJ Co

Van DJ Co has this well-balanced mix of structure and spontaneity that works for any crowd.

They already have playlists ready for different kinds of events—weddings, corporate parties, seasonal gatherings—which is great if you have no clue where to start.

But we also love how collaborative they are. They listen to what you want and take song requests seriously.

And then there’s Joe, the face of the company and apparently a bit of a legend in the Vancouver events scene. Clients mentioned how professional and cool-headed he is, even when things get hectic.

He also seems to be the best at knowing when to turn a slow evening into a full-blown party.

We love how their packages are clearly laid out. Each one comes with professional-grade gear too.

They also offer lighting and sound add-ons, like LED uplighting or subwoofers, that can level up the atmosphere.

The only catch? Those extras can add up pretty fast, so it’s worth keeping an eye on your budget if you’re tempted to go all-in on the tech.

Pros

  • Prepared yet flexible
  • Collaborative
  • Professional
  • Great crowd reading
  • Transparent packages
  • High-quality equipment
  • Optional upgrades

Cons

  • Extra costs

Still getting compliments from guests on how good our DJ was!

“We were fortunate to have Joe DJ our wedding last month and are still getting compliments from guests on how good he was! Joe was great to work with and he truly has that special ability to keep the dance floor going with just the right songs for everyone to enjoy…”

– Ashley & Derek, Google review

Don’t think our dance floor was ever empty!

“Joe was the best wedding DJ! Feels like I just gave him three words and he read my mind and created the perfect playlists for cocktail hour, dinner time and the dance floor. He was super helpful in answering all my questions while planning and was such an energetic and fun presence to have at our wedding. Don’t think our dance floor was ever empty!”

5. Presto Entertainment

Address: 2525 McGill St

Phone: +1 855-677-3786

Business hours: Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours

Website

The first thing that we noticed about Presto Entertainment was how ridiculously prepared they are.

Every client seems to mention how Presto shows up with backup equipment—and not just a spare cable or two. They’re ready for anything.

They also get major points for their organisation. Their online planning forms are like a secret weapon. You can plan the music, coordinate the timeline, and basically lay out the flow of the whole night in one place.

It’s neat, it’s modern, and it keeps everyone on the same page. We love that it takes what can be a messy back-and-forth of emails and turns it into something easy.

We also noticed that they have MC and DJ bundles. Presto’s DJs double as MCs (or they can work alongside one).

The result, according to guests, is an effortless event. They handle transitions like pros, from heartfelt speeches to that dance floor moment.

If you want to go all out, they also have a Magic Mirror and photobooth setup.

Now, they’re not the cheapest option out there. Their prices are a little higher than the other companies we’ve looked into.

Pros

  • Well-prepared
  • Online planning forms
  • Organised
  • DJ and MC bundle
  • Good at transitions
  • Extra services offered

Cons

  • Relatively higher pricing

Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the music

“…My husband took the lead on coordinating music and had a number of specific requests, everything from genres to a few must-play songs. The DJ was receptive and collaborative, but also read the room perfectly. We asked him to prioritise the vibe of the crowd, and he absolutely delivered. The dance floor was full all night, and our guests had nothing but great things to say about the music. Even though a few of our pre-selected songs didn’t make it into the rotation, we didn’t miss them in the moment. It truly felt like the perfect soundtrack for the night…”

– Emily Westcott, Google review

Everyone was on the dance floor!

“We hired Presto Entertainment DJ and photobooth services for our wedding on August 31st, and they were the best from the initial planning process all the way to our wedding day. We had DJ Chipper as our DJ, and he was great. He kept the day moving as our emcee with added humour, as well as played the best music of all genres/eras, so everyone was on the dance floor! The photobooth was a huge hit, and people were raving about it all night! I highly recommend booking Presto Entertainment for all your wedding needs!”
