Unwinding with Vancouver's Best Wine Tasting Experiences

For us wine lovers, there’s nothing quite as exciting as going on a wine-tasting adventure, whether it’s by ourselves or with our fellow wine-loving pals (aside from, of course, enjoying a bottle at home!).

Luckily, as the biggest city in British Columbia (home to the world’s northernmost wine region), Vancouver offers a fantastic range of options for wine tasting.

We’ve curated a list to feature the best wineries and wine tours you can find in Vancouver and nearby areas. Check it out!

La Fabrique St. George Winery

Website: http://fabriquestgeorge.com/

Address: 7 E 7th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1M4, Canada

Contact details: +1 778-945-1677

Operating hours: Monday – 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Thursday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM

Just outside downtown Vancouver, you’ll find La Fabrique St. George Winery with an awesome selection of reds, whites, and rosés waiting for you to taste. You can grab five wines for $25 or go for a flight of three wines for $15 ($5 per bottle – quite the deal right?).

And if you’re after something really different, make sure to try La Fabrique’s “natural” wines. These wines are made without any added sulfur, so each bottle has its own special flavor.

Want to see how the magic happens while you sip? Jump on their public tour of the winemaking facilities. You’ll get a sneak peek behind the scenes and see exactly how those delicious wines were crafted.

Now don’t worry about food – while they don’t serve any, you’re totally welcome to bring your own snacks. Maybe grab something from their standing bar area, Buvette St-George, before hitting the wine shelf.

Vancouver Urban Winery

Website: https://www.vancouverurbanwinery.com/

Address: 55 Dunlevy Ave, Vancouver, BC V6A 3A3, Canada

Contact details: +1 604-699-1989

Operating hours: Monday – Friday: 11:30 AM – 10:00 PM | Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

While Vancouver Urban Winery doesn’t whip up their own wine right there, they’re all about bringing you a killer lineup of award-winning wines in their urban tasting room.

They snag grapes from the Okanagan and make wines in small batches at their Vancouver spot.

Swing by their joint, Belgard Kitchen, and you’ll find a whopping 36 different wines to pick from, like the ‘55’ Rose 2022 or the ‘Vanbrusco’ Frizzante Red 2019. Flights usually come with 4 or 6 tastings, and they’ll set you back anywhere from $18 to $32.

Our fave part is that you can pair your vino with some locally-inspired seasonal grub available at their restaurant. Good wine and good food — hard to go wrong with that!

Lulu Island Winery

Website: http://www.luluislandwinery.com/

Address: 16880 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, BC V6V 1A8, Canada

Contact details: +1 604-232-9839

Operating hours: Monday – Thursday and Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM | Friday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Walk through a grape tunnel at this Richmond favorite, known for its red, white, blueberry, and ice wine. This is the spot for a cozy wine-tasting experience, as it offers both public and private tours.

They have two tour options: the Discovery Tour (45 minutes), where you’ll dive into the winery’s history and enjoy a wine tasting with paired cheeses.

The other is the Estate Tour (60 minutes), which focuses on the wine-making process and ends with a tasting paired with charcuterie.

If tours aren’t your thing, you can opt for the Seated Tasting Experience, where you’ll get a flight of three wines paired with cheese and crackers. Or, if you’re feeling spontaneous, go for the general tastings, available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Just want to experience the winery in a more casual setting? Swing by during their happy hour every Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM to enjoy live music, mulled wine, and, of course, happy hour specials.

This urban winery in New Westminster is just a 20-minute walk from the closest SkyTrain station, and it’s known for being the first “garagiste” (garage winery) in Canada.

It might seem surprising to find such a high-quality winery in this urban setting, but Pacific Breeze Winery’s wines hold their own against any in BC.

Here, you can enjoy their top-notch white wines (Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer) either on their spacious patio or in the lounge, where they serve some light snacks to pair with your wine. Plus, keep an eye out for the occasional food truck!
