Collective Healing Counselling & Consulting is a Vancouver-based practice redefining what it means to receive care. Rather than separating personal healing from the realities of oppression, their work acknowledges how systems of power — racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism — shape people’s lives and wellbeing. The result is a counselling space that feels both deeply personal and profoundly socially aware.
The team specializes in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and sex-positive care, welcoming clients from all walks of life. They work with BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, sex workers, neurodivergent individuals, and anyone who has ever felt unseen or unheard in traditional therapy spaces. This inclusivity is not performative — it’s built into every aspect of their philosophy and practice.
Clients can choose from a wide range of services, including individual, couples, and relationship therapy, as well as art therapy and hormone readiness assessments. Sliding-scale fees and student counsellor sessions make care accessible to more people, reflecting the team’s commitment to equity and affordability.
Therapy at Collective Healing is a collaborative process, where counsellors view clients as partners in their own growth. Sessions are guided by curiosity and respect, helping people reconnect with their identities, bodies, and voices in an environment that feels safe and affirming.
Many clients describe the experience as liberating — a rare blend of emotional safety and political consciousness that helps them feel both seen and empowered. The therapists here don’t shy away from difficult truths, but meet them with empathy, honesty, and care.
For those ready to explore their stories within a framework that honours justice, identity, and self-determination, Collective Healing Counselling & Consulting offers more than therapy — it offers a space to heal, reclaim, and belong. New clients are invited to book a free 15-minute consultation to begin their journey toward holistic healing.

Inclusive and Compassionate Counselling Space
“Collective Healing is carrying a labor of love, by their preferential work with minoritized individuals and supporting communities that are often neglected. It is one of the very few organizations that walk the talk, and do deliver on their commitment of inclusivity, respect and support from a decidedly anti-oppressive, inclusive, trauma informed sex positive stance. I highly recommend them.”

- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Nightingale Counselling is a counselling practice centred on registered clinical counsellors working in a psychotherapist capacity, designed for self-aware adults who have invested effort into understanding themselves but still struggle to create consistent change. Their focus is on structured, relational psychotherapy that supports emotional wellbeing in a calm and accessible setting.
The psychotherapists at Nightingale emphasize a trauma-informed, non-manualized approach rather than rigid treatment protocols, while still maintaining a clear focus on progress and follow-through. Sessions are shaped by the client’s needs, with collaboration and therapeutic relationship supported by a coordinated clinical team model.
A defining feature of their service is the “team behind the room” structure, led by Clinical Director Shane Trudell, who has overseen the start of therapy for thousands of clients. While clients work directly with a primary counsellor, case direction is reviewed by a clinical team to help ensure therapy remains focused, responsive, and accountable.
In terms of clinical focus, their psychotherapists support a broad range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties, self-esteem challenges, and major life transitions. The model is designed to help bridge the gap between knowing what is wrong and consistently applying strategies that hold up in daily life.
Their psychotherapy services also extend into specialized modalities used based on client needs, including EMDR for trauma processing, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method couples counselling, ADHD support, and family therapy. This range allows clinicians to adapt treatment approaches while maintaining a structured direction.
Getting started is designed to be straightforward and low-risk through a guided intake process. Every client begins with a free 30-minute discovery session with a Master’s-level Registered Clinical Counsellor, and if the initial therapist fit does not feel right after the first full session, a second session with a different clinician can be arranged within the week at no additional cost, with appointments typically available within days.
Overall, Nightingale’s psychotherapists present a structured, team-supported therapy model focused on turning self-awareness into consistent action. This approach may be particularly suitable for individuals seeking accountability and measurable progress, though the goal-oriented structure may feel more intensive for those who prefer a less directive style of therapy.
Pros
- Team-based model provides clinical oversight and accountability.
- Focused on turning self-awareness into practical change.
- Coordinated team support keeps therapy on track.
- Free 30-minute discovery session before starting.
- Option to switch therapists at no extra cost if the fit is not right.
- Supports a wide range of mental health concerns.
- Offers specialized therapies such as EMDR, EFT, and couples counselling.
- Fast access to in-person and virtual appointments.
Cons
- Structured, progress-focused approach may not suit those seeking a more open-ended therapy style.

Keeler & Rahn Relational Psychotherapy & Healing is a psychotherapy practice centered on relational, depth-oriented counselling for individuals and couples who want more than surface-level change. Their work is built around understanding recurring emotional and relational patterns that tend to persist over time.
A key theme in their psychotherapist services is that many clients come in already self-aware but still feeling stuck. The practice specifically notes working with people who have tried therapy before and want a more in-depth, experienced perspective.
Their approach begins by clarifying what a client wants their life or relationships to look like differently. From there, therapy focuses on building a strong, safe counselling relationship that supports honest exploration and meaningful change.

Against All Odds Coaching & Counselling is a counselling and coaching service designed for people impacted by a loved one’s addiction. Its primary focus is supporting family members and close relationships who are dealing with the emotional and psychological strain of addiction-related situations.
The service is led by Asha, who brings both professional credentials and personal recovery experience to the work. With a background in psychology, CACCF certification, and experience as a clinical supervisor and international addiction counsellor, the approach blends structured clinical understanding with real-world insight.
A key emphasis of the practice is helping clients who feel “invisible” in traditional addiction systems. Rather than focusing only on the person using substances, the counselling centers on partners, parents, siblings, and adult children who are managing crisis, confusion, and long-term emotional stress.
Therapy is framed around restoring emotional clarity and reducing patterns of over-functioning, guilt, and burnout. Concepts like hope fatigue and recovery-adjacent trauma are used to help clients understand the deeper psychological impact of prolonged exposure to addiction dynamics.
The counselling approach integrates Emotion Focused Family Therapy principles with practical coaching on communication, boundaries, and crisis response. Clients are also supported in learning how to respond more intentionally rather than reacting emotionally in high-stress moments.
A major strength of the service is its practical orientation, including guidance on local BC addiction and mental health systems. This includes help understanding detox options, treatment pathways, funding programs, and community supports so clients are not navigating complex systems alone.
Pros
- Strong focus on family addiction impact
- Combines credentials with lived recovery experience
- Helpful navigation of BC addiction resources
- Education-driven counselling approach
Cons
- Not a general mental health practice

I appreciated that he followed up after our session
“I worked with David Holmes three years ago. He paid close attention to our struggles and provided helpful tools I still use today. I appreciated that he followed up after our session and gave us something to work with between our sessions. I felt heard and also challenged! He gave us a lot to think about and reflect on.”

She provides psychotherapy and counselling services to adolescents and adults in Vancouver, Canada. Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Livia is skilled in treating depression, anxiety disorders, family relationship problems, childhood trauma, and cross-cultural issues, particularly within Chinese communities.
One of the main advantages of working with Livia is her compassionate and empathetic approach grounded in the work of Carl Rogers, combined with her proficiency in modern therapeutic systems such as CBT, IPT, ACT, and DBT. Her extensive experience, including her background in an adult mental health team, equips her to handle severe and chronic mental illnesses with gentle care.
