psychotherapists-vancouver
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Ever found yourself reaching for a self-help book only to realise that the advice isn’t helpful at all? You’re not alone.

Many turn to these books with the hope of finding quick fixes but often end up feeling more isolated. It’s in these moments of frustration that personalised help from a psychotherapist might be the lifeline you need.

Navigating the world of psychotherapy, however, can be daunting. With so many qualified professionals out there, how do you choose the right one?

That’s where we come in. We’ve done our research. We also spoke with multiple psychotherapists and their patients to find the top ones in the city. Check them out here!

How much does it cost to see a psychotherapist in Vancouver?

Seeing a psychotherapist in Vancouver can cost at least 100 CAD per session. This price is just an estimate and will vary depending on the experience of the psychotherapist.

How We Chose

Qualifications: We examined their qualifications to ensure each therapist is licensed and has the necessary educational background.
Specialisation: We identified therapists with expertise in treating specific issues like anxiety, relationship problems, and more.
Testimonials: We listened to feedback from people, which provided valuable insights into each psychotherapist’s effectiveness and demeanour.
Therapeutic Approach: We considered the different therapy approaches the psychotherapists used. We looked at whether they used evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, or other methodologies.

Karla Maranhao is an excellent choice for individuals dealing with trauma and PTSD, as she has an extensive background in trauma-informed care.

Karla uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and somatic therapy. By using these therapies, many have been able to cope, process, and heal from their traumatic experiences.

That said, Karla’s specialised focus means she may not be the best fit for those seeking help with issues unrelated to trauma.

She provides psychotherapy and counselling services to adolescents and adults in Vancouver, Canada. Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Livia is skilled in treating depression, anxiety disorders, family relationship problems, childhood trauma, and cross-cultural issues, particularly within Chinese communities.

One of the main advantages of working with Livia is her compassionate and empathetic approach grounded in the work of Carl Rogers, combined with her proficiency in modern therapeutic systems such as CBT, IPT, ACT, and DBT. Her extensive experience, including her background in an adult mental health team, equips her to handle severe and chronic mental illnesses with gentle care.
