Planning a wedding takes a lot of thought, and trust me, I get it. Every time I flip through my parents’ wedding album, I’m reminded just how much goes into pulling it all together.
There’s the dress, the venue, the flowers… and of course, the cake. Honestly, the cake shows up in so many photos. It’s practically a celebrity at the reception.
And let’s be real, it can’t just look amazing. It has to taste just as good. No one wants guests whispering about how dry the cake was while heading out the door.
If you or someone you know is tying the knot soon, congratulations! To help you out, my team and I went hunting for the best wedding cake bakers right here in Vancouver. Keep reading to know our top picks!

1. Jaconde Catering & Cakes

Address: 909 Mainland St
Business hours:
- Monday: 12:30 PM – 4 PM
- Tuesday to Sunday: 12 PM – 4 PM
Visually, Jaconde’s cakes are stunning. They look just as good in real life as they do online, which isn’t always the case with wedding vendors.
We especially liked their sugar flowers. They’re handmade and genuinely fooled some of us into thinking they were real. That attention to detail shows up everywhere, from the colors matching the wedding theme to replicating floral arrangements in edible form.
We did notice that their overall style leans more toward classic elegance. If you’re after something really quirky or modern, you might need to have a more detailed chat with them about your vision.
They do custom designs, but their signature look definitely leans more polished and timeless.
According to some former clients, Behnaz, the owner, is great to work with. She’s friendly, responsive, and involved. A few clients even said she helped them every step of the way and sometimes delivered cakes herself.
A minor heads-up, though, is that we did come across one client who mentioned the texture of their filling being a bit off, but that seemed to be a rare case.
Price-wise, we’d say Joconde offers solid value for what you’re getting. It’s not the cheapest bakery in town, but considering the flavors and design, it’s worth the spend.
Behnaz made everything easy
“Our cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing wedding cake. Behnaz made everything easy, from getting a tasting box to delivery on the wedding day. Zero stress from start to finish. Our cake looks exactly as we imagined and captured the exact elements from the reference photos we sent. Thank you for everything.”

The cake looked exquisite
“One of the highlights of our wedding was our beautiful wedding cake. Their exceptional service began with a beautifully presented cake-tasting experience. We ordered a 4-tiered ribbon cake with vanilla earl grey and salted caramel flavours, and the cake was delivered to the venue in perfect condition. The cake looked exquisite, tasted delicious, and their overall service was outstanding! Our family and friends have been raving about the cake even days after the wedding! We will definitely order more of their desserts in the future. Thank you, Behnaz and the Joconde Patisserie team, for making our wedding day even sweeter!”

2. The Cake & The Giraffe

Address: 1740 W 2nd Ave
Phone: +1 778-835-1437
Business hours:
- By appointment only
What our team loved about The Cake & Giraffe were their vegan or gluten-free options. They taste just as good as the regular ones, which isn’t always the case.
Dalana, the owner, also makes every cake completely custom. You can show her a photo or an idea, but she won’t copy it. She creates something original just for you, and we think that’s pretty special.
We saw examples where she matched cake flowers to a bride’s bouquet or added sculpture elements that told a personal story. It’s an artistic approach that really shows her talent.
However, if you’re someone who wants an exact Pinterest replica, you may have to look elsewhere.
Dalana herself is super friendly and quick to reply. Some couples we talked to mentioned how they really felt that she was excited to work with all of them.
The cakes aren’t cheap, but our team agreed that the quality matches the price. This is something to plan for if you’re working with a tight budget. The average cake seems to cost around $400-$500, plus delivery, so it adds up.
You also have to keep in mind that Dalana only meets with clients that booked an appointment. If she’s at the top of your list, then you should reach out as soon as possible.
My cake fit so perfectly with my garden party theme
“I am still dreaming of the cake Dalana made for our wedding! It was absolutely delicious and stunning and fit so perfectly with my garden party theme! The cupcakes were also a smash hit! Not one was left over! Dalana was so easy to work with too and just made everything so easy for us. Highly recommend Dalana for all of you cake and cupcake needs at your wedding!”

Our guests couldn’t stop raving about our cake
“We recently had the pleasure of enjoying a cake from The Cake & The Giraffe at our wedding, and it was absolutely phenomenal! The cake not only tasted delicious (we had two flavours – raspberry chocolate and passion fruit), but also perfectly matched our woodland theme. The detail was incredible, down to the adorable critters and mushrooms. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful and tasty it was. Thank you for contributing to our special day!”

3. Vogue Cakes

Address: 3278 W Broadway
Phone: +1 604-362-4363
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 9 AM – 6:30 PM
When it comes to looks, Vogue Cakes goes all out. We saw photos of everything from sleek wedding cakes to fun, cartoon-themed and TV-inspired creations. One cake we loved was styled to look like a stack of vintage books, and it was done so well.
Some clients we spoke to praised Sara. She always helped them explore custom ideas and was super friendly and patient, even when they threw out a few pretty weird suggestions.
Sara offered advice and was upfront about what would work and what might not hold up structurally. That honesty is always a good sign for our team.
Their pricing was moderate. You’re looking at $2.50 to $6.50 per slice, depending on how detailed you want to go. We also like that they have other sweet options that are more affordable, like baked donuts and cookies.
That said, we heard from a few couples who had minor hiccups, like a mix-up on pick-up and a shaky cake stand rental. However, they all said Vogue handled it really well with quick replies, apologies, and even free delivery in some cases.
Our guests couldn’t believe that our chocolate cake was vegan
“We absolutely loved our wedding cake! Not only was it visually beautiful but it was absolutely delicious! We ordered a 2-tiered chocolate marble cake with ganache inside, topped with vanilla buttercream icing. Our guests couldn’t believe that it was vegan! Sara, our contact person, was wonderful to work with and we will definitely order from Vogue Cakes again for other occasions.”

The cake was at a very reasonable cost for the quality
“We chose Vogue Cakes for our wedding cake this September. The cake was gorgeous and delicious! We had so many compliments on it and absolutely devoured the leftovers. We opted for a two-tier vanilla chocolate ganache cake with buttercream frosting and eucalyptus/flowers on the tiers. It was so easy and quick to confirm details with the team, and the cake was at a very reasonable cost for the quality. This is now my recommended wedding cake location for my friends and family – thank you!”

4. Castle Cake and Sweet

Address: 1700 Marine Dr Unit 103
Phone: +1 236-465-0106
Business hours:
- Monday: 10 AM – 8 PM
- Tuesday to Saturday: 8 AM – 8 PM
- Sunday: 8 AM – 4 PM
Castle Cake and Sweet has over 15 years in the wedding cake world, so our team was up to put them to the test.
The first thing we noticed was their attention to detail in cake designs. These aren’t your typical wedding cakes. The ones we saw had elegant buttercream finishes and intricate fondant work, and everything was 100% edible.
That said, if you’re someone who prefers a more minimal or rustic style, you’ll want to be very specific during your consultation. Most of their designs lean more toward the elegant and formal side, so communication is key to getting the exact vibe you want.
We also liked how flexible they are. You can scale up mini cakes for bigger events, or get a large custom cake that’s priced fairly. It’s like getting the look and taste of a high-end cake without blowing the budget. It’s a mix of style and practicality.
They’re also open to accommodating dietary needs. If you or your guests have food sensitivities, they’re upfront about what’s possible and any cross-contamination risks, which is helpful.
Based on our interviews with previous clients, they seem to be very passionate and invested in getting things right. Most people said that Sara, who runs the bakery, is great at offering suggestions, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed by options.
If we had to point out a downside, it’s that they’re in high demand. Some people mentioned it took a while to get a consultation or book their spot, so we’d recommend reaching out early if you’re thinking of ordering from them.
Our wedding cake design was exactly what we had envisioned
“This review is long overdue, but I felt compelled to share our amazing experience with Sara Joon and her team at Castle Cake. From our very first interaction, her professionalism, courtesy, and kindness immediately put us at ease. We knew we could trust her expertise, and she truly exceeded our expectations. Our wedding cake was not only absolutely delicious, but its design was exactly what we had envisioned. Thank you, Sara Joon, for making our special day even more memorable!”

Very warm and friendly service
“Absolutely best local coffee/lunch/pastry place on the Northshore! Lovely, cute, and absolutely stunning decor. The atmosphere is warm and very inviting. The pastry dishes are amazing, tasty and quality ingredients. An excellent place to order your custom birthday/wedding, or any occasion specialty cake. Very warm and friendly service. Will be back VERY soon!”

5. La Gateau Bakeshop

Phone: +1 604-620-7975
Business hours:
- Tuesday to Friday: 10 AM – 4 PM
- Saturday: 10 AM – 2 PM
- Sunday to Monday: Closed
If you’re in a pinch and need a wedding cake fast, La Gateu Bakeshop is a go-to in Vancouver. They offer convenient online ordering and delivery, and even same-day service for urgent requests.
Tanya, the owner and pastry chef, is clearly the heart of the bakery. With over 20 years of experience and a background working with top cake designers globally, her talent really shows. Our team was impressed by this.
Their level of customization is great. Tanya doesn’t just stick to a set list of designs. Clients can choose from a catalog of designs or collaborate with her directly to create something unique.
We booked a consultation and found the whole process smooth. You can choose Zoom, phone, email, or in person. It’s great if you’re planning from a distance.
A couple of people we spoke with mentioned how Tanya got what they wanted, even if they weren’t great at explaining it. That kind of intuitive understanding is a big deal.
We also heard from a client who had a clever setup. The top layer of their wedding cake was vegan, and the rest wasn’t. It was a very smart move to include vegan guests without changing the whole cake, and it’s nice that they’ve accommodated that request.
They do offer faux cakes, too. However, we were a bit surprised they cost the same as the real ones. At least they’re very transparent about it.
I couldn’t have dreamed my cake to be any better
“We chose Le Gateau to do our wedding cake as they were easier, friendlier and cheaper than the other bake shop we looked into! We opted for a simple, snowy-looking cake, and when we got it, it looked perfect! I couldn’t have dreamt it to be any better. The taste was amazing, and we included a vegan top layer of the cake too. Either the regular or vegan layers tasted amazing, though. I’d highly recommend Le Gateau to anyone who wants to get a cake, or even pop in for a treat!”

Will never get over how incredible our wedding cake was
“I will never get over how incredible our wedding cake was! It was so easy to communicate with Tanya during the design process. She truly made my vision come to life! I’m forever grateful for such a detailed design and execution. Thank you again, Le Gateau!”
