I don’t know about you, but baked goods have always been my go-to. They’re easy, comforting, and honestly, a lifesaver when guests pop by. I won’t hear complaints if there’s a box of goodies on the table.
So when my team and I got the chance to check out the best bake shops in Vancouver, I was all in. Not just for the job and for you, but also for my own sweet tooth.
If you’re looking for the next bakery that you want to visit often, you’re in the right place. Keep reading!
How much do baked goods cost in Vancouver?
Baked goods in Vancouver generally cost between $2 and $6 for items like cookies and pastries, around $4 to $6 for bread, and $40 to $85 for cakes. It really depends on the bakery and the item.
1. Oh Sweet Day! Bake Shop

Address: 1706 E 1st Ave
Phone: +1 604-423-4833
Business hours:
- Wednesday to Sunday: 11 AM – 6 PM
- Monday to Tuesday: Closed
The mini cheesecakes in Oh Sweet Day! are definitely the highlight for us. People love them, and so do we. They come in flavors like ube, lemon, and espresso.
While we were there, we even overheard another customer talking about coming back just to make the most of their “buy 5, get 1 free” deal. Safe to say, the mini cheesecakes are a hit.
The cakes and cookies are just as impressive. Everything looks visually stunning. You can tell a lot of care goes into how it’s all presented.
We noticed that a lot of customers order custom cakes too. They do birthdays, engagements, and other events.
What’s interesting is that their cakes’ flavor often leans into Asian-inspired choices like matcha, passion fruit, and ube coconut. It’s not something you see in every bakery.
That said, not everything is perfect. We heard a few complaints about the service feeling rushed or even rude. While that wasn’t the case when we visited, it’s something the bake shop should definitely look into.
It’s also a bit disappointing that the shop isn’t stroller or wheelchair accessible.
Now I know the perfect place to order a special customized cake
“I had the lavender lemon tart with a coffee. Honestly, it tasted amazing! Service was also great, beautiful smiles and pretty things everywhere! Now I know the perfect place to order a special customized cake, which I know will taste great and look beautiful. Definitely recommended!”

Every single guest loves the cakes from this bakery
“I have ordered several cakes in the past years from Oh Sweet Day, every single guest loves the cakes from this bakery. Fanny, the owner, and her staff are true professionals; the care and attention they put into their craft truly shines through in the beautiful and decadent cakes they create. We recently ordered a custom cake for our granddaughter’s 1st birthday, it was absolutely perfect. The banana hazelnut cake for another event was also awesome. Thank you, Fanny and the team!”

2. Melo Patisserie

Address: 154 E 8th Ave
Phone: +1 604-423-4520
Business hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM – 7 PM
- Friday to Sunday: 8:30 AM – 9 PM
Visiting Melo Patissiere felt like stepping into a little piece of Paris. The space is small but beautifully designed. There were clean marble counters, soft lighting, and just enough detail to feel elegant without being stiff.
As soon as we saw the pastries on display, we were impressed. Everything looked so carefully made. We later found out that Chef Melo trained in Paris and Asia, and we literally saw that in the way each dessert was put together.
We tried the pistachio croissants, and it was amazing. It was flaky on the outside, with a warm, nutty filling in the middle that wasn’t too sweet.
Surprisingly, the Scones ended up being a team favorite. They were buttery, soft, and had this perfect golden crust. We paired them with Melo’s Earl Grey tea jam, which added a lovely floral note.
Another thing we really liked was that Melo is open late. Vancouver doesn’t have many places where you can get high-quality desserts after 8 PM, so it was a nice bonus for us.
If we had to point out anything, it’s that prices are on the higher end. But considering the quality, craftsmanship, and overall experience, it was just fair.
Their croissants are also really good
“Such a nice bakery! They always have fresh stuff, and I’ve been there a few times now. Their coffee is really good, and this time I tried the chai latte and it was really good too! The owner is super nice. We were waiting outside, and he gave us some free scones, such a kind gesture🩷! Their croissants are also really good, definitely worth trying.”

3. Bahar Bakery & Cafe

Address: 579 Robson St
Phone:
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 8:30 AM – 5 PM
Bahar Bakery & Cafe is not your typical bakery filled with croissants and sourdough. Instead, it focuses on Persian, Armenian, and Middle Eastern treats, which we don’t come across often in Vancouver.
There isn’t a lot of seating, so it’s more of a grab-and-go spot or a quick coffee break kind of place.
We tried a little bit of everything, starting with the pistachio roll. We loved that it’s moist, soft, and just sweet enough. One of our teammates, who usually doesn’t go for sweet pastries, said it was her favorite.
The cardamom cupcake was fluffy with a crispy crust. We really appreciate that the staff offered to warm it up and slice it for us without us asking.
We were hoping to try one of their popular cakes, like the Medovik honey cake since we’ve heard a lot of good reviews about it. But it wasn’t available when we visited.
It seems like some items may need to be pre-ordered. Other customers mentioned the same thing, so it’d be nice if a few more cakes were kept in stock.
As for the service, it was pretty good. The woman at the counter was genuinely friendly and happy to answer our questions.
Can’t wait to come again next time
“What a lovely cafe and bakery downtown. You can feel the warmth and kindness of the people working there as soon as you step in. I had the pistachio muffin and wow – incredible. Not too sweet and so delicious. The other baked goods looked amazing, and you can see them being them fresh in-house. Hopefully, they can expand to a bigger location with more seating. Can’t wait to come again next time I’m downtown.”

Their pastries and cakes are rich, delicate, and utterly satisfying
“Bahar Bakery is a gem that truly stands out for its exceptional flavors. Every item I’ve tried has been a masterpiece, bursting with freshness and perfectly balanced taste. Their pastries and cakes are not only visually stunning but also layered with flavors that are rich, delicate, and utterly satisfying. The attention to detail in their baked goods is evident in every bite, from the flakiness of their croissants to the moist, flavorful cakes. It’s clear they use high-quality ingredients and have a genuine passion for their craft. If you’re a fan of desserts that taste as good as they look—or better—Bahar Bakery is a must-visit.”

4. Doughgirls Comfort Kitchen & Bakeshop

Address: 3322 Shrum Lane
Phone: +1 604-333-5474
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 8 AM – 5 PM
Doughgirls Comfort Kitchen & Bakeshop has 1940s-inspired decor, which was pretty cool. The warm colors and vintage touches made our visit feel like we were in a comforting family kitchen.
In addition to being a bakery, they also serve as a small brunch spot. They’ve got sandwiches, lunch, and more. Their pies, which come in a variety of sweet and savory flavors, are especially popular.
We tried the classic apple pie, which had a great flavor and a perfectly flaky crust. However, we felt it could’ve been served a bit warmer. Other sweet pies include cranberry and chocolate silk, while savory options like Turkey Pot Pie are also available.
One thing that stood out to us was the variety. The bakery’s menu changes daily, and with the seasons, so there’s always something new to try.
Before we left, we couldn’t resist peeking into their “grab and go” freezer. It’s stocked with frozen pies and other meals that you can bake at home. They’re great options for those who want to always have pastries at home.
A small critique is that there aren’t many options for those with dietary restrictions. While the bakery has plenty of classic comfort foods here, gluten-free or dairy-free choices are a bit limited.
This is a very special bakery
“This is a very special bakery situated in the middle of the Westbrook Mall and the baked goods are superior in taste and quality…there is a large outside patio area adjacent to the bakery entrance….a very warm welcome is guaranteed to be present…the artisan breads certainly look inviting…our muffin and scones today were very delicious and the coffee was top notch as well…”

5. Sweet Thea Bakery

Address: 4789 Main St
Phone: +1 604-226-0895
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 7 AM – 7 PM
Our team recently visited Sweet Thea Bakery, and we’re very impressed with their seasonal specialties. The fruitcake and German stollen have a strong following, and after trying them, we totally get why.
They’re packed with premium dried fruits, nuts, and real spirits. We’ve heard they’re the best in the region, and we wouldn’t argue with that.
We also liked that they can accommodate custom orders. They’re very detail-oriented, especially with cakes for weddings and other special events.
Some customers also mentioned their holiday cookies and cakes, though we haven’t had the chance to try them yet since they’re only available during the holidays. We’ve heard whispers that the gingerbread has a European twist, which sounds intriguing.
When it comes to their bread, the long fermentation process makes a difference in both flavor and texture. We loved their Nine Grain Goney bread, which had all these wonderful textures for the different grains.
However, we did hear from some regulars that toasting it too much can cause you to lose those unique textures and flavors, so be mindful of that.
Beautifully displayed and do taste as good as they appear
“A lovely little bakery with the highest of quality treats ~ great mix of both savoury and sweet. Everything is freshly made, beautifully displayed and DO taste as good as they appear…”
