To save you from dealing with an experience like that, I recruited the rest of the Vancouver writing crew to find the best truck rentals in the city. Here are the ones we found when you need a reliable truck that works.

Enterprise Truck Rental’s Flex-E-Rent program is perfect for any business wanting a massive fleet and an amazing maintenance network.
We love that they have the latest models of commercial box trucks, ranging from 14’ to 26’. They come with automatic transmissions for easy driving and air conditioning.
We also really love that the trucks have lift gates and dock-high bodies too. These make loading a lot easier.
Another thing we love is that their maintenance network allows you to access truck repairs from any of their sites. Others told us that the replacement truck vehicle options were also handy.
We also like their strong fleet management tools. There’s a real-time telematics via Geotab that helps customers monitor mileage, hours, and compliance with electronic logging device (ELD) mandates.
Since Enterprise’s services are mainly for businesses, those looking for just a plain old regular truck won’t really find that here.

We like that Mr. Rent A Car is open seven days a week and has locations throughout the city.
Their no-cost local pick-up and return service immediately stood out to us. Many of the clients we talked to raved about the convenience this service brings to them, saving time and energy.
When we went down to the shop ourselves, we appreciated the kindness of the staff. They answered any question we threw at them.
Customers had the same great experience. Several people told us their truck rental experience went smoothly and easily due to the friendliness of the team members.
But some did say it can take a few tries to speak to someone on the phone if you’re calling in.
That aside, we like how straightforward their website is. You can easily compare and reserve vehicles, with no hoops to jump through.
Customers also appreciate that Mr. Rent A Car has you covered with clean and well-maintained vehicles.
We also think they take the cake with their straightforward pricing policy. Customers said there were no hidden charges and no surprises.

U-Save is who you call when you want a truck to do just about anything. People use their reliable pickup trucks to move furniture, haul gear, and more.
It’s also reassuring that they’ve been at it since 1979. We believe their extensive experience in the truck rental business is evident in how they keep their customers happy and trucks on the road.
One customer said that it couldn’t have been any easier to book the truck online. Others loved the efficient process and the ability to see a real-time price.
What we also love about U-Save is their dedication to a huge network of brokers and travel agencies.
We like that they offer accessibility, competitive pricing, and availability for a variety of trucks that simply aren’t offered by smaller companies.
The drawback, though, is that most of their trucks are older models. Don’t get us wrong, they’re reliable trucks, but don’t expect the newest features or a luxury ride.

“The best vehicle rental experience ever. The vehicle I ordered was a GMC Sierra. That is what I got whereas often rental companies give you any old thing claiming it is in the same class. Not only did I get what I ordered but it was the very top of the range with a wonderful 6.2 litre V8. The vehicle was impeccably presented both inside and out. U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer designs their trucks around the task of moving. We love this because they help many people have a smoother and more comfortable moving experience.
When we checked out a few of their trucks, we liked that they’re lower to the ground, making it easier to load heavy pieces of furniture. This makes such a huge difference, especially if you’ve hefted your share of awkward truck beds.
That aside, some of the U-Haul trucks do show the heavy use of being rented out, especially during the chaotic moving season.
Still, customers love using U-Haul’s trucks. One customer told us that they enjoyed driving the 15-foot truck they rented because it was easy to drive. Plus, it was spacious, and the views were fantastically clear due to the crisp and clean mirrors.
Another thing we love is that U-Haul also has a program called Truck Share 24/7. It allows customers to pick up and drop off their rental with the push of a finger.
People appreciate being free from the hassle of waiting for business hours.

5. Priceless Car Rental – Vancouver International Airport offsite Car, Van & Truck Rentals

Priceless Car Rentals has a nice assortment of trucks ranging from little pickups to full-sized and 4-wheel. Their trucks even cover light-duty cargo runs to heavy-duty heavy lifting jobs.
We love how their staff walks you through which truck is best for you. They tell you the specs, the pros, and cons. They make sure you leave the lot with confidence that you picked the right truck.
A lot of the customers we talked to also praised the reliability of the trucks. In fact, we didn’t hear any reports of breakdowns during the move.
One thing we aren’t big fans of, though, is their payment policy. They take an authorization hold plus a $150 security deposit.
It’s fairly standard practice, but we find it inconvenient because it can tie up your funds temporarily.
Renters must also return the fuel tank to the original level within 10 miles of the return location and provide a receipt. If you forget, be prepared for the refueling charge.
Had a good rental experience
“Had a good rental experience with the company renting a Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Its important to not only visually recognize car damage before you drive off the lot but also to take photos in advance of leaving the lot. Car rental and documents required took about 20 minutes for folks like me who didn’t prepay. Also note the driver agreement is unlimited miles only for BC and there are additional costs if you drive to another province or state. You do also need either credit card insurance or an active insurance policy to cover any incidental. Return was a breeze and I used the after hours drop box and Richmond Taxi to take me back to the airport.“
