To make things a bit easier for you, we hunted down the best transmission shops in Vancouver. These are the places we researched and confirmed with other car owners, so you can get your transmission fixed without a ton of hassle.
How much does it cost to fix a transmission in Vancouver?
It costs at least $80 for a basic transmission fluid change, but basic repairs cost at least $500. This price is just an estimate. The actual price will depend on the company, the damage to your transmission, and more.

Stan’s Transmission Centre Ltd is who we’d call when it comes to differentials. If you’re not a car person, that’s the thing that splits the engine power to your wheels. It’s super important for how your car handles, especially if you’ve got a 4-wheel truck.
One thing we also liked is that they give free estimates and an extended warranty on their services. It’s a huge weight off your shoulders to know what you’re getting into cost-wise.
When we talked to former customers, many said a lot of great things about the shop’s automatic and manual transmission work. Many with trucks praised how smooth the shifting is and how much better their cars run.
Honestly, we like that it doesn’t matter what you drive. They start by checking everything with a full transmission checkup.
It’s also impressive that they use all the newest tech to find any electrical problems or issues inside the transmission.
They are so meticulous. They take everything apart, clean it piece by piece, and test every little thing.
However, that does mean their service appointments do run past 30 minutes.

“My transmission was absolutely destroyed and my mechanic said he doesn’t work on transmissions but to take it to Stan’s for a great repair.
So on January 27th, I limped my 2008 Chevy to Stan’s and they gave me a quote for a complete rebuild. I called around to some other shops and they were a couple hundred bucks cheaper but none had the sparkling reputation that Stans had. So I said “let’s do it” and I am glad that i did. They knocked it outta the park, fantastic job, money well spent, I’ve been telling everybody about them ever since! Stan’s had me bring my Chevy back after about 10 days for a quick inspection to make sure everything was going smoothly and I thought that was very courteous and professional and it’s been four or so months since then and my transmission has never been better. If you’re in need, go to Stan’s and you’ll be glad you did. If they made shirts, I’d buy one.”

Bert’s Automotive Transmissions has been a Vancouver institution for over 60 years, which makes sense given they’re not picky about the cars they work on. They’ll work on anything, whether it’s a fancy foreign car or a good ol’ domestic ride.
What really stands out to us is that they’re a one-stop shop for everything: parts, service, and repairs.
We’ve listened to testimonials from people who were pulling their hair out trying to find a rare part for their older import, but Bert’s came through with a solid selection of quality parts for them.
But we don’t like them only for their parts. We also love that they’ve got trained technicians who aren’t “YouTube Certified,” aka they are actual experts. They give honest advice and pinpoint the problem too.
Many former customers shared that the techs really take the time to understand what the car needs and come up with solutions that actually last. After all, no one wants to be back in the shop a month later with the same issue.
However, we’ve heard some grumbling about booking appointments. Apparently, it can be a bit of a pain to get through to someone—lots of phone tag.

We love that Lee’s Automatic Transmissions specializes in CVT transmissions. These transmissions are automatic, and they replace all the traditional car gears with a chain or pulley.
We were really impressed that Lee’s techs can tackle all those weird CVT issues like shifting, delayed acceleration, and more. We also appreciate that their technicians are constantly updating their skills with the latest tech and diagnostic methods.
Apparently, they’re total wizards with computer controls and electronic diagnostics, which is important with how complicated cars are these days.
Plus, they have a one-year warranty to back up all their work.
We also love how comprehensive their transmission service is. It’s not like they’re just slapping on band-aids on your car. They do a full inspection, clean everything up, and swap out the old fluid with high-quality fluid and a protective conditioner.
We’re just disappointed when we found out that some people were overcharged for their transmission services. So, we’d advise double-checking the bill before paying.

What we think really makes Kingsway Transmissions different is how their shop is all modern and super clean. We didn’t get the typical greasy auto shop vibes when we checked them out.
We like that they’ve clearly invested a lot in the latest repair equipment, because they can handle even the trickiest transmission problems without any issues.
Even if there are issues, they have a one-year warranty. Customers told us how the warranty came in handy when they had a problem a few months after getting their car fixed.
Many also like how their techs take their time to walk you through everything they are doing, explaining the diagnostic process in detail.
One customer told us their staff found a sensor issue that three other shops couldn’t even figure out. So, we like how their high-tech diagnostic tools save you a ton of money and time.
That said, we’ve heard a few complaints about the actual appointment service. People told us they couldn’t stand the appointment mix-ups and last-minute cancellations without any notifications.

Many praise their mechanics for having an impressive amount of knowledge about the specific quirks of these vehicles.
We like how they aren’t just quoting a mechanic tutorial they watched, but they show you the parts in your Ford or recommend newer replacements for that old transmission in your Chrysler.
Customers appreciate how their techs don’t take hours to figure out what’s wrong either. They quickly figured out and fixed any issues that other general repair shops had completely missed.
The only major complaint we’ve heard about them has to do with their prices. More than one person echoed sentiments about high price rates and feeling a little upsold on unnecessary repairs.
Their turnover time is also impressive.
