Between you and me, I always thought of pruning as giving your plants a haircut. I used to watch some of my neighbors go at their shrubs and plants with shears and always wondered if it was just for aesthetics, and boy was I wrong!
While yes, some folks prune plants to get them to grow a certain way, that’s hardly the only benefit of pruning. Pruning can remove dead branches, encourage further growth, and reduce the risk of wilting or infestations.
I’ve recently started keeping a garden, so I called some of my friends with a green thumb to help me find pruning services in Vancouver. Like a haircut, I don’t want to try it without knowing how, and hopefully these picks help you too!
How much does it cost to get pruning services in Vancouver?
Getting your plants pruned by a pruning service in Vancouver can cost you anywhere from $150 to $500 per plant or tree, depending on the size of the plant as well as how many sessions it takes to fully prune it.

There’s no shortage of homes in Vancouver with beautiful trees and hedges, so we had no shortage of recommendations from locals! One of these was Aesthetic Tree & Hedge Services, a popular choice for customers across the Greater Vancouver area.
At first glance, the company’s offerings largely covered woody plants as their name implies. They offered a range of services to maintain your plants, from tree topping and pruning to hedge trimming.
Another factor we noted was the cost of their services. We found their prices quite reasonable, especially given the amount of work they do.
Of course, we just had to ask regulars about what drew them to the service. The ones we chatted up were happy to show us the results of their pruning. We found that these tended to produce a natural finish for homeowners who prefer that look.
Regulars also praised the team’s timeliness. They were reportedly punctual on the day of service, starting and finishing at the agreed-upon times and leaving minimal mess.
If you’re interested, we recommend calling or visiting the team rather than emailing them. Some customers reported longer wait times for a response to their online support inquiries.
Work was efficient with the hedge looking clean
“He was good about taking a look that day, organized with booking an appointment for the next week and arriving on time, and work was efficient with the hedge looking clean and straight. Would use them again and recommend.”
– Mr. Dennis Yee, Google Review
Did an amazing job pruning a line
“Yaniv and his team did an amazing job pruning a line of Arbutus strawberry trees. I didn’t want a ‘hedge’ look and he kept the trees looking natural. He also did a wonderful job shaping a Katsura and creating lots more light for the entrance way.”

It’s hard not to bring up Devine Arboricultural Solutions for not just pruning services, but tree services in Vancouver in general. We were pointed their way by a few locals with a green thumb, and it wasn’t hard to see why.
Their offerings covered various plant and tree services, from initial planting to pruning and even removal. We also couldn’t help but notice their offerings for arborist consulting and appraisals on top of all that
The tree appraisals, in particular, were reportedly quite handy for determining whether pruning was even necessary in the first place.
Regulars also mentioned the thoroughness of the service, with the team’s attention to detail being a highlight. The team got deep into the plants, able to find and prune away even the most minute dead branches and other spots.
We also appreciate how quickly the team provides a quote. Clients we spoke with also found our services fairly priced, with prices clearly laid out so customers can budget accordingly.
That said, we recommend keeping your schedule clear on the day of service. Their thorough service means that their service times are sometimes longer than those of other pruning services in Vancouver.
Happy to try to save trees
“I am very grateful to Tiger for his knowledge and expertise. He is happy to try to save trees, rather than remove them, and he advised that removal of dead branches, pruning and shaping the tree was all that was needed to restore health and beauty.”
– Ms. Elaine S., Google Review
Our trees look great
“Highly recommended. Booking the consultation was easy. Quote was reasonably priced and the recommended services and process were well explained. Tiger’s team were professional, easy to communicate with, and did a great job. Our trees look great!”

3. Peak Trees

Address: 6566 Pinehurst Dr, Vancouver, BC V5X 4P1
Contact Details: +1 778 318 9442, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
If you’ve got an attachment to your garden, it can be hard to put its care into the hands of other folks. When we asked locals for recommendations, we were surprised when they brought up Peak Trees as a reliable starting point!
Their range of services was wider than we expected, and in a good way too. Among services such as tree planting and drone rescue, we found their pruning services to be quite varied. They service tree canopies, fruit trees, and even hedges.
When we reached out, the customer service was also refreshingly responsive. The team responded to our inquiries promptly and proactively explained what went into their services and which plants they could cover.
We also asked about special requests, and both staff and regulars were happy to say they had tried to accommodate as much as possible. This can help with folks who have lawn decorations or have plants close to pipes or cabling, for example.
We also love how flexible their quotations are. If the team finishes ahead of the agreed-upon time, the service cost could reportedly be adjusted to reflect it, saving customers a few dollars.
That said, we do recommend booking services early. Given the company’s backlog of work and limited team, it may take some time for your pruning service to be scheduled.
Listened to my concerns and wishes
“Within days, the team arrived to prune mum’s beloved Dogwood tree. Matt listened to my concerns and wishes, using his expertise to prune the tree to preserve its shape and beauty. The two workers were polite and tidy.”
– Ms. Stephanie Anderson, Google Review
The clean-up was speedy and spotless
“Mat and his Peak Tree team are delightful to deal with and their work is top notch. Our trees and shrubs look great and the clean-up was speedy and spotless. The team completed the work in less time than estimated in the quote.”

In hindsight, we shouldn’t have been too surprised that a landscaping company would be known for its pruning services. Still, Treeline Services landed on our radar when locals praised their accessibility, so we just had to drop in and see for ourselves.
Their services covered a range of garden safety tasks, from gutter cleaning to pruning. We also noticed their hazard mitigation services, which assess whether your plants can survive specific weather conditions and how.
The team is responsive and prompt too. They answered our inquiries almost as soon as we made them, giving us much-needed insight into their booking process and supported areas.
This booking process was a particular highlight among the customers we spoke with as well! Many reported that the team was easy to work with, from initial consultations and assessments through to the day of the service.
Speaking of the day of service, regulars shared that the team was quick with their work without sacrificing the cleanup afterwards. No need to spend time sweeping up leaves here!
On the other hand, these regulars stressed the need to check on your plants after the service and ensure the team completed everything they were booked for. Following up on their services, as some mentioned, could take some time.

Contact Details: +1 866 240 0482, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
If you’ve owned a garden or tree at all in Canada, there’s a chance you’ve heard of Davey Tree Expert already. This company originated in North America, and locals pointed us to its Vancouver presence as a hotspot for tree services.
We weren’t disappointed by what we found on our own cursory visit. Their offerings included the basics of tree maintenance, from planting to pruning and trimming. What caught our eye, though, was their support for both residential and commercial buildings.
Regulars we spoke with immediately praised the team’s advice on tree maintenance and more. The team is skilled at identifying problem areas in their plants and provides accurate recommendations on how best to trim and prune them.
They’re very thorough with their work as well. The team paid close attention to detail, carefully pruning problem areas to keep the plants healthy and aesthetically pleasing.
On the other hand, a few customers mentioned long wait times for a quote from the team. This might give some customers time to plan their budgets, though it does set back the service schedule somewhat.
One area customers asked for improvement was the service schedule. Appointments can be rescheduled on short notice, making it difficult to ensure someone is on the property when the team arrives.
Raised and trimmed the outer canopy
“We asked Davey Tree to prune a large beech tree in our back yard – about 100 feet tall. Jamie and Carmela did a terrific job, removing lots of dead limbs and others that were growing across one another. Raised and trimmed the outer canopy.”
– Mr. James Heyes, Google Review
Very experienced arbourist and gave me various recommendations
“Guiseppe had already inspected the trees on my properly and discussed with me the pros and cons to taking the steps I asked the quote for. He is a very experienced arbourist and gave me various recommendations.”
