The 6 Best Dog Walkers in Vancouver for Every Breed

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Quality of Service: I looked for those with customers expressing how great their dog walking services are. I determined this by reading online testimonials and talking to each company’s frequent customers.
  • Safety: All dog walkers on this list take dogs to a safe environment, whether it’s a park or a forest.
  • Customer Service: I opted for dog walkers who reply quickly to emails and don’t get late in picking up and dropping off dogs.
  • Service Area: Most dog walkers on this list operate throughout Vancouver, with some even providing services in its nearby areas.

One afternoon, I was staring into the soulful, slightly judgmental eyes of my furry friend. He was standing by the door, holding his leash in his mouth, clearly wondering why we weren’t already at the park.

Unfortunately, life gets busy. Between Zoom meetings, errands, and attempts at self-care, finding time to give him the attention he deserves is difficult.

So I started looking into professional dog walkers. While I was a bit skeptical at first, it turned out to be a genuinely helpful solution. My pup got the exercise and attention he needed, and I got some breathing room without the guilt.

While looking into dog walkers for my own dog, I ended up compiling a list of the ones that consistently came up in reviews and conversations with pet owners. If you also need help, here are the best dog walkers in Vancouver that I found.

How much does hiring a dog walker cost in Vancouver?

Hiring a dog walker in Vancouver costs around $27 for a 30-minute walk, while longer walks range between $30 and $40.

I was glad to know that Vancouver Canine Dog Walking has experience with nearly all dog breeds, backed by over 16 years of experience. That level of experience gave me confidence right away.

I really appreciate the compassion the walker has towards my pet. During the consultation, the walker took the time to know my dog’s personality, quirks, and any special needs. It’s a strong indication that they care about the well-being of pups.

Their 60-minute forest group hike not only exercises dogs but also enhances their social skills. I find exploring the forest trail a tiring yet adventurous walk for pups, allowing them to burn off energy in a safe and supervised environment.

Their personalised private walks also provide dogs with the perfect combination of exercise and socialisation. This is a great option if you want your pup to be familiar with their walkers first before joining the pack.

Vancouver Canine Dog Walking serves all of Vancouver, providing dog owners in every neighborhood with dependable, high-quality care and regular exercise for their pets, wherever they live.

Pros

  • Over 16 years of experience
  • Compassionate staff
  • Off-leash group hike
  • Forest group hike
  • Personalised private walks
  • Train and walk service

Cons

This is the dog walking company you need

“For any dog parents out there who are looking for spectacular service, quick response times, with prioritizing the safety, pure enjoyment, and enrichment of your pup ? Well this is the dog walking company you need. My dog Nova looks and waits at the door every Friday morning super excited to go out with her Auntie Sofia. If Sofia is away, Any of the other amazing Aunties such as Jill/ Kelsea – Nova loves just as much. Jayme definitely has a solid team in her hands and I can’t thank them all enough for the amazing forest adventure hikes and sending “pupdates” of photos and video’s of my dog enjoying her best life. Thank you to all of you for continuing to love Nova and taking such good care of her when she’s with you. Her smile puts a smile on mine and my husband’s face.”

    10/10 service!

“I cannot say enough amazing things about Vancouver Canine! They have been walking our first dog since they began as a company, and have recently started walking our new rescue dog. They are extremely responsive to the needs of our dogs, always looking out for their wellbeing and the walkers are so kind!! We can leave for work knowing that our dogs will have an amazing time and be very well-exercised until we get home. Would 10/10 recommend their services!”

Indiana Bones Dog Adventures is ideal for pet parents who need reliable weekend support. Their one-hour weekend walks are fairly priced, limited to just two dogs at a time, and come with flexible scheduling.

Their service coverage is pretty, serving not just Vancouver but also North Vancouver. They, however, don’t provide service in Killarney, Sunset, and Victoria-Fraserview.

One thing I really appreciated is the free hike for new customers. It gave me the chance to try their service risk-free and see how my dog responded. Based on the photos and videos they sent during the hike, my pup clearly enjoyed himself.

What impressed me most was how knowledgeable their staff seemed. One client I spoke to mentioned how the team skillfully handled her dog’s recall issues. Through one-on-one specialised training, she noticed a big improvement in her pup.

The only disadvantage is that they don’t offer a private walk on weekdays. As someone who could really use help during the week, I do wish that option were available.

    Pros

    • Serves throughout Vancouver and North Vancouver
    • Knowledgeable staff
    • Seasonal camping trip
    • Weekend private walk
    • Free first hike
    • Free GPS collar
    • Provides videos and photos
    • Transparent and reasonable pricing

    Cons

    • No private walk on weekdays

The staff are caring and lovely

“We have been using the Indiana Bones team’s services for nearly a year! Our dog is so excited to see Sam and his team every week and loves his hikes so much and comes back a very happy and sleepy pup after each hike! The staff are caring and lovely and it allows us to put our dog into their care without any concerns or worry. The convenience of pick up and drop off from our house is an added bonus when our work schedules can vary. We have no worries leaving our dog in their care as we know that they will take care of Atlas as if he was their own dog! I would highly recommend anyone to use hiking or dog boarding with the Indiana Bones team!”

    Our pups love their adventures!

“Indiana bones has literally been a life saver! Both of our pups absolutely love their adventures! They have incredible bonds with all of their walkers and it is clear that the feeling is reciprocated. The trust we are able to have with Indiana Bones taking care of our babies, is worth far more than what we could ever pay. We are so grateful to be apart of this pack ❤️”

One of the first things that stood out to me about Bark Avenue Dog Adventures was how prompt and responsive they were. Their swift responses to my questions made the consultation phase super easy.

And from what I heard, that great communication continues well beyond the initial consultation. Many pet owners mention getting regular photos and video updates during walks.

I also really appreciate the flexibility in their walking options. Whether on-leash or off-leash, they seem to tailor each walk based on the dog’s needs and the environment.

Additionally, I like their private dog walking options. You can choose between neighbourhood walks or outings at Pacific Spirit Park, which gives a nice balance between convenience and adventure.

Another thing I like is the relatively inexpensive fee for an extra dog. They only charge $15 to $20 for a plus-one pup per walking session, so it’s easy for multi-dog households to get value without doubling the cost.

That said, Bark Avenue Dog Adventures has been around for just over three years. They’re relatively new compared to other dog walkers in the city, which might give some pet parents a pause.

    Pros

    • Serves throughout Vancouver
    • Punctual staff
    • Offers group and private walks
    • On or off-leash walk options
    • Prompt communication
    • Regularly updates pet owners
    • Provides post-walk feedback
    • Inexpensive fee for an extra dog
    • Transparent pricing

    Cons

    • Relatively new in business

    I highly recommend them

“I’m so happy I found Bark avenue! Ava is so kind and very quick to respond. My puppy Ralph met her when he was 6 months old. She took him on a solo walk first and gradually introduced him to the other dogs. Obviously he has a lot of puppy energy so I appreciate her patience with him and also she follows any training direction I give. Ralph is also being walked by Ella and Kristine. He absolutely loves all of his walkers! These girls always give feedback on how his walk went and provide pictures and videos of him with his friends. I know Ralph is safe and well taken care of. I highly recommend bark avenue!”

    Simply the best!

“Simply the best!!! Better than all the rest. Most people don’t know this, but Tina Turner was actually singing about Bark Avenue Dog Adventures in her famous 1989 cover and our dog Zelda actually is the original mastermind behind those lyrics. ok but seriously, we love this team and are so thankful for them. Ava and Ella are incredibly caring, attentive, communicative, and they always put your pet’s safety and comfort first. There’s nobody else we would trust and recommend more for walks and pet setting. Thank you bark ave for making all of our lives better 🐶💕”

What stood out to me about Sit Stay Sparkle is the level of experience their team brings, especially Sarah, the owner. With over 35 years of combined skills and expertise, it’s easier to trust them with pups.

It’s probably that experience that helps them be as patient as they are. One woman I spoke to told me that her dog doesn’t get along with other people ever since. But through Sarah’s unbeatable patience, the dog became friendly to her.

One service I especially liked was their private evening walk session. It’s such a good option that allows dogs to burn off pent-up daytime energy, leading to a more restful night’s sleep.

Aside from the evening walk session, I also appreciate the report card they give to owners after the service. When I tried their evening private walk, I was delighted to receive photos, videos, and positive comments about my dog’s behaviour.

If there’s one drawback, it’s the price for an extra dog. They charge 50% of the original price for a plus-one pup per walking session, which is considerably more expensive than other walkers I looked into.

    Pros

    • Over 35 years of combined experience
    • Serves throughout Vancouver
    • Patient staff
    • Evening and weekend private walk
    • Private and group park walk
    • Great communication
    • Provides report card and updates
    • Offers GPS collar option
    • Transparent pricing

    Cons

    • Relatively expensive additional dog price

The best dog walker out there

“Sarah is absolutely wonderful and my dog Pepper just loves her! She gets incredibly excited for her walks and comes home even happier. Sarahs business plan is wonderful for all furry guardians. She sends videos and pics from each walk and then emails and breakdown of how the walk went, training that was done, how Pepper did and what she needs to work on. Sarah is so intuitive with dogs and understands as guardians we love getting all this information and instantly. Seeing how happy Pepper is on her walks is adorable and having the write up after is so helpful to understand Peppers needs and how she is progressing. I can’t recommend Sit, Stay, Sparkle more!!! The best dog walker/trainer out there! :)”

    Thanks so much for everything!

“Sarah runs a smooth operation, and is so responsive and has great suggestions – we can tell she really cares both about her employees and her clients! Our dog is not always the fastest to warm up, but she really likes Ashley and we feel so safe leaving her with her. The little report cards with summaries and pictures from walks are a wonderful gift to get when we have to be out all day – we love seeing that our dog is happy and well taken care of. Thanks so much for everything!”

We recently used Ready, Set, Walk for dog walking services, and it was a fantastic experience. From the very beginning, the team was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about caring for dogs. They took the time to get to know our pup, understand his routine, and ensure he felt comfortable right away.

The walks themselves were excellent. Our dog came back happy, well-exercised, and content after each outing. We appreciated the reliability and consistency—they always arrived on time and gave updates afterward, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away.

What stood out most was the genuine care and attention they provided. They treated our dog like their own, making each walk not just exercise but a fun and engaging experience.

Overall, Ready, Set, Walk exceeded our expectations. With dependable service, thoughtful care, and a real love for dogs, we would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog walker.

What first caught my attention about Noelle’s Pet Love was how long they’ve been in business—over 18 years. While longevity alone isn’t enough to land a spot on this list, it did make me curious.

When I dropped by their daycare, I appreciated how well they handle different dog personalities. And after hearing a lot of praise from long-time customers, I felt more confident about including them.

I love the beach and forest group walk options. I love the idea of my pup getting more than just sidewalk stroll. Many dogs, I think, would absolutely love splashing waters on the seashore or sniffing nonstop in the woods.

Another big plus is their wide service area. They operate throughout Vancouver, which means dog owners can access top-quality dog walking services regardless of where they are in the city.

I admire their knowledge about the different personalities of various dog breeds. I personally saw how they interact with each pup individually when I visited their daycare.

That said, one recurring complaint I heard was about their limited mode of communication. They only converse with customers through email and don’t answer phone calls.

    Pros

    • Over 18 years of experience
    • Knowledgeable staff
    • Serves throughout Vancouver
    • Private walks
    • Beach or forest group walks
    • Offers various discounts
    • Provides video updates
    • Transparent pricing

    Cons

    • Limited mode of communication

Everyone is so kind, warm, and super hardworking!

“My dogs LOVE Noelle’s (as much as they love Playful Pups in Richmond) and I love everyone at Noelle’s too- everyone is so kind, warm, and super hardworking! Before finding out about them, I’d met the dogwalkers on Spanish Banks several times and they’re all diligent and gentle, and the dogs are always super happy and friendly, which is why I decided to try them out for my dogs. It’s a true family business and I can’t thank them enough for being so supportive of me as a dog-parent, and of my dogs ❤️”

    -Nausheen Shafiq, Google Review

    I would 100% recommend!

“I can’t say enough about Noelle’s – my puppy Wilbur has been going to daycare here 1x/week since he was only a few months old. It’s been really great for his socialization, especially learning body language and building confidence (they were the ones to finally get him to try going up/down the stairs!). I’ve never seen him as excited as he is when he sees us pull into the parking lot, it’s really clear that he loves his weekly visits. Since he started joining the weekly beach walks I’ve noticed a huge improvement in his recall and focus while off leash. This is an area I was struggling with and I really appreciated the extra help! Wilbur and I would 100% recommend!”
