The good news is, Vancouver has plenty of great options. We did some digging to save you the first round of research and pulled together a list of Vancouver acting schools we think are worth checking out.

How much does it cost to enroll in an acting school in Vancouver?
Enrolling in acting schools in Vancouver costs $60–$550 for part-time classes and about $5,700–$30,000 CAD for full-time diploma programs, depending on length.
1. Sonder Acting Studio

Instead of big group classes where you might get lost in the shuffle, Sonder Acting Studio’s Ensemble Program keeps things small (about six actors per level).
That’s an advantage for us. Shane Savage, who runs the program, has the time to notice what each actor is doing and give specific feedback.
We liked the structure of this training. It’s broken into four levels that build on each other step by step. Level 1 focuses on the basics, which include script analysis, daily practice habits, and becoming comfortable on camera.
As you go up, you move into deeper character work and apply your skills to real industry needs.
They also make self-taping a big part of training. They can coach on it both in-person and online. There’s also on-set coaching and private coaching sessions, so they’re really flexible with what you need.
Actors talk about how Shane has created a safe space too. Because of his teaching style, they’re not afraid to make mistakes. His techniques also actually rewrite the way they think about acting and auditions.
That said, their refund policy is a little strict. Once you’re in, you’re locked in financially, even if something changes. For someone who’s not entirely sure, that could feel so pressuring.

3. Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts (VADA)

The big draw about VADA is their One-Year Intensive Professional Acting Diploma Program. It’s full-on and demanding, but it doesn’t waste time on filler.
Students get training in all the essentials—scene work, improv, audition prep, and more. But what really stood out to us is how much it’s geared toward on-camera work.
By the end, you walk away with a professional demo reel. It’s useful if you’re trying to land an agent or audition.
They also shine on career prep. We’ve heard that over 80% of grads land an agent within six months. What makes this believable is the conversation we’ve heard with their students.
A lot of them said that the staff, especially Graeme, personally guided them through finding an agent. It sounds like actual support really continues after the course ends.
Plus, the Hollywood trip adds a nice edge for students who want to peek beyond Vancouver’s industry and into the Los Angeles (LA) market.
However, VADA isn’t cheap. The cost is definitely higher than some schools we’ve looked into. It can be limiting for those students who don’t have a large budget.

4. Vancouver Acting School (VAS)

A lot of schools either give you a super quick overview of acting or make you commit to years of study. VAS sits right in the middle with its 24-week Acting: Film, Television & Voice-Over Diploma.
It’s intensive, structured, and really designed for people who are serious about starting a career.
The program is laid out nicely. The first term covers all the basics, including scene study, audition prep, and even improvisation.
Then, in the second term, things shift to more advanced work. You’ll get to try performing on camera, refine your audition skills, and even delve deeper into voice-over work.
We noticed how most of the students love the voice-over training. It seems like VAS really highlights this, which most schools often don’t. Students get hands-on experience in professional booths, which is a big deal if you’re interested in animation or gaming.
Plus, the fact that classes happen in a working casting studio means students get used to the equipment, setup, and atmosphere of real auditions.
The fees are a bit high compared to other schools, though. And while there is financial aid, the application process can be slow. It’s worth sorting out our early if you’re planning to go here.

Story Institute Acting School has a well-rounded program. They offer a full 48-week course where you don’t just learn how to act for the camera, but also how to do voice work, plus the basics of making your own short films.
Students aren’t left waiting for auditions. They actually graduate knowing how to create their own content, which we think is a smart move in today’s industry.
Their instructor team is also not just teachers in theory. They’re working actors, directors, and producers who know what the industry looks like right now. That makes the advice and training feel practical, not outdated.
We also heard a lot of good things about the school’s atmosphere. Students often describe their classmates as welcoming, encouraging, and diverse.
Even the camps for kids and teens are focused on building confidence through fun themes. It really shows the school’s emphasis on growth without intimidation.
That said, we came across a refunding concern situation. One former applicant had a frustrating battle over tuition after deciding not to attend.
While that might not reflect every student’s experience, we did wonder how clearly financial policies are communicated.

MDS Actors’ Studio focuses on the Hickman Process, which is a method that treats acting like a physical craft.
Instead of focusing only on feeling emotions or analysing characters in your head, this approach is all about what the audience actually sees: your body, your voice, and your physical actions. We found that pretty refreshing.
Their program is very structured and focused. Classes run in 10-week sessions, four hours at a time.
Students have homework like reading, visual exercises, and learning a mix of classical and contemporary monologues.
It might sound intimidating, but we saw it as an advantage. You won’t just dabble in acting because you’ll actually build habits that stick.
The director, Michael David Simms, has over 40 years of experience in both Vancouver and LA. From what we’ve heard, he pours that experience back into his students. He’s both supportive and challenging.
If we’re going to be honest, we think this school is not for everyone. The training is tough. If you just want something casual and fun, MDS might be too intense. We recommend it for people who want to go all in.
