1. Casa Mia

Address: 1920 SW Marine Dr
Contact Details: +1 604-267-8999
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 5 PM
Casa Mia is a beautiful and comfortable place for long-term care. It’s housed in a renovated heritage mansion and has 90 beds, many with stunning views.
We love that they prioritize resident well-being with 24-hour registered nurse support, emphasizing pain and symptom management. The nurses here take the time to carefully assess a resident’s pain level and then adjust their medication accordingly.
We were also impressed with the amenities, especially the grand dining area and ballroom. They were beautiful and spacious.
We also like the outdoor patios on each floor; they’re the perfect place to enjoy fresh air and nature.
But what stood out to us the most was their focus on restorative and rehabilitation programs designed to optimize independence and keep residents active.
Additionally, we think it’s amazing that they offer a variety of activities. These include music therapy, art classes, and even garden and horticultural programs.
However, they don’t quite hit the mark when it comes to food. People felt that the food could be more varied and appealing.
They really do exemplify caring service
“Casa Mia’s staff are caring, kind and helpful. They really do exemplify caring service, and they are so sweet with my mother. Everyone from the front desk staff to the care aides to the events coordinators are friendly and attentive.”

Treated compassionately in every aspect
“My 93 year old mother has been a resident of Casa Mia since April. From her first day she has been treated compassionately in every aspect of her care. All of the nurses, aides, dietician, recreational staff as well as the Director of Care work hard to help my mom feel loved and cared for. I visited many care facilities in Vancouver, and none comes close to Casa Mia’s standards.”

They even facilitate access to dental, optometry, and podiatry services through visiting specialists.
We did wish for a couple of improvements, though. We hoped the staff would be more attentive at times. The center could also use some aesthetic updates, specifically in the common areas.

The additional amenities they offer also deserve a shoutout. They have a mobile library service from the Vancouver Public Library.
That said, the availability of private rooms is limited. Some residents also wished the facility had a larger outdoor area.
Medical issues will be noted and dealt with
“I can’t say enough about the administration and staff at SGPL. Many of the care staff have been working for decades here and their vocation shows in their dealings with residents, family members and other team members. It is such a relief not to have to be on top of every single aspect of my father’s care, to have confidence that medical issues will be noted and dealt with, that he is clean and well groomed, that he gets regular exercise and intellectual stimulation, that his room is spotless. Recreation staff make an effort to get to know each resident and tailor that resident’s activities to suit them. The menu is varied and well received. It is with regret that we leave SGPL.”

There are lots of activities to keep the residents busy
“Our family had a great experience with South Granville Park Lodge Nursing Home. My father in law was very well taken care of. He was on the second floor, in extended care, and the staff of Registered Nurses, including head nurse Ellen, were very competent and left our family with a high degree of confidence. In addition to being well trained, the staff are universally friendly, the food is excellent and there are lots of activities to keep the residents busy and engaged. I would not hesitate to recommend South Granville Park Lodge to anyone looking for elderly care.”

We also love how families can suggest new activities as well, making it a truly inclusive environment.
Plus, their volunteer program adds another layer of warmth and connection to the community.
