I’ve got a bunch of friends here in Vancouver who came from all over the world. And honestly, hearing their stories about how they got here is always a ride. Some had it pretty easy, but the others had terrifying journeys.
Moving countries is no joke. It’s complicated, emotional, and sometimes unfair. Unfortunately, discrimination still exists in parts of the process. But here’s the thing: the ones who had the easiest time most likely worked with an immigration lawyer.
Having someone who knows the system inside and out makes a difference. It’s not just about getting the paperwork right. It’s also having someone in your corner the whole way through.
So, if you or someone you care about is thinking of moving to Vancouver and you want to make it as stress-free as possible, we’ve done the digging for you. Check out our pick for the best immigration lawyers in the city!
How much do immigration lawyer services cost in Vancouver?
Immigration lawyer services in Vancouver can cost between $150 CAD and $400 CAD per hour, or $2,000 CAD and $10,000 CAD for full cases. It all depends on the complexity and type of application.
1. Goldman Associates

Address: Suite 300, 1275 W 6th Ave
Phone: +1 604-900-3259
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM – 5 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Goldman Associates isn’t one of those generic immigration consultancies. They’re a law firm led by Ian Goldman, a lawyer with over 30 years of experience. They can actually represent you in court if needed, which consultants can’t do.
Their consultation is really hands-on and personal. Mr. Goldman actually takes the time to really dig into the client’s list of questions. He’s honest about options but still manages to keep things easy to understand and still encouraging.
One thing that really impressed us was hearing about a client who ran out of time during their appointment. Mr. Goldman followed up with a detailed video response and links to helpful resources. That kind of effort really shows how much he cares.
Just a heads up: if you have lots of questions or a complicated case, the standard one-hour consultation might feel a bit short. It’s a good idea to plan ahead and maybe book a longer session if needed.
We liked that the firm offers flexible payment options, including credit cards, PayPal, and e-transfer. It makes things easier when you’re overseas.
You can even choose between in-person and virtual consultations, which is great if you’re still abroad and planning ahead.
Explained all the routes we can take
“Yesterday, we had our virtual meeting with Mr. Goldman, and we were greatly impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of Canadian immigration Law, and he explained to us all the routes we can take to become Canadian residents. He changed our sky from dark gray to light blue totally. Definitely if you’re looking for a good Canadian Immigration Lawyer. Don’t look further. Mr Goldman is the best !!!”

Consultation was well worth every penny
“Could not have been happier with the help Ian Goldman provided us with over our Zoom consultation with him. His friendly demeanor, honesty, and wealth of knowledge about the process ahead of us in visiting/moving to Canada from the U.S. were invaluable and well worth every penny!”

2. MKS Immigration Lawyers

Address: 688 W Hastings St Suite 600
Phone: +1 604-632-0188
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 5 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Our team liked how MKS Immigration Lawyers doesn’t try to do a little bit of everything. They’re focused on immigration and citizenship law.
We looked into some of their lawyers, and we’re impressed. One has been practising immigration law since the ‘80s, another teaches at the University of British Columbia, and another has worked with the UN on refugee resettlement.
It’s not just impressive on paper. They actually put that experience to use in practical and clear ways that help their clients.
We also liked how they just don’t work on individual clients. They’re also trusted by universities, non-profits, and even other law firms.
Another thing that stood out is their multilingual team which speaks over 10 different languages. It shows they’re set up to help a really wide range of people.
That said, their consultation fee of $550 CAD (plus tax) is a bit steep. It doesn’t help that it’s non-refundable.
On the brighter side, we really appreciated the welcoming vibe at MKS. It doesn’t feel like a cold, corporate office at all. They’re approachable and easy to talk to, which makes a huge difference when dealing with legal matters.
One of the most dedicated lawyers I have encountered
“I had the pleasure of working with Attorney Mojan Farshchi, and I can confidently say that she is one of the most honest and dedicated lawyers I have encountered. Her intelligence, kindness, and meticulous attention to detail were evident throughout our collaboration. She handled our asylum case with remarkable integrity and professionalism. I highly recommend her services.”

She always took the time to explain everything clearly
“Mojan was my immigration lawyer, and I cannot thank her enough for helping me get my permanent residency approved. From the very beginning, she was incredibly kind, patient, and supportive, guiding me through every step of the process with the utmost professionalism and care. She made what could have been a stressful and overwhelming experience feel manageable and even hopeful. Mojan’s expertise and attention to detail gave me so much confidence that my case was in the best hands. No matter how many questions I had or how anxious I felt, she always took the time to explain everything clearly and reassure me.”

3. Sas & Ing Immigration Law Centre

Address: 555 W Hastings St #1790
Phone: +1 604-689-5444
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
One of the main reasons we included Sas & Ing on our list is because of their impressive credentials.
Catherine Sas has been named the Best Immigration Lawyer in Vancouver several times and is recognised by well-known organisations like Who’s Who Legal and Lexpert.
Their team doesn’t just handle simple cases. They’ve worked on tricky appeals and even Federal Court reviews. That level of experience stood out to us.
We also liked how upfront they were with their pricing. Their consultation fees range from $150-$300 CAD, which seems fair, given their expertise.
However, when you add up full-service costs (like permanent residency application), it can get pricey.
Talking to their clients also convinced us that people really trust them. Many mentioned the firm’s honesty and how they don’t make unrealistic promises.
They’re straightforward about your chances, which some might find a bit blunt, but we actually think that’s a good thing. It’s better to know the real picture upfront than get your hopes up unnecessarily.
We also heard from a former client who shared how one of their lawyers helped secure a visitor visa for their mother-in-law after several refusals.
That said, since they’re so well-regarded, they’re also very busy. Some clients mentioned that communication could be a bit slow sometimes.
Professional, knowledgable, and highly strategic
“I had a fantastic experience working with Victor Ing on my immigration process. From start to finish, he was professional, knowledgeable, and highly strategic in his approach. His ability to navigate complex immigration procedures and provide clear guidance made all the difference. Victor was always responsive, detail-oriented, and proactive, ensuring that everything was handled smoothly and efficiently. His legal expertise and commitment to his clients truly set him apart.”
-Maxine Liu, Google review
Honest from the beginning about what to expect
“I highly recommend Victor Ing as an immigration lawyer. He assisted me with sponsoring my husband, which was incredibly stressful because we have a young son, and the pressing desire to be together as a family. The process was logistically difficult, and Victor took care of everything, was honest from the beginning about what to expect, and prompt with his responses and follow-up. The main things I wanted in a lawyer were transparency, good communication, and knowledge; Victor has all three of these things. I’m forever grateful to him for putting my family together again.”

4. Ackah Business Immigration Law

Address: 744 W Hastings St #400
Phone: +1 604-923-1357
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours
Ackah Business Immigration Law has a strong team with more than 50 years of combined experience in both Canadian and US immigration law. This gives them a solid foundation in handling complex cases.
Their 24/7 support feature impressed us. We think it’s a big plus if you’re dealing with urgent immigration matters in different time zones.
We like that they cover pretty much everything—from work permits and study permits to permanent residence and cross-border business immigration.
We came across a client who mentioned that the firm helped them speed through the immigration process in half the time they were initially told. That speaks to the firm’s efficiency for us.
Their flat fee pricing model is also nice. They provide clients with a fixed cost after an initial consultation, making it easier to budget without worrying about hidden fees.
Their online resources (including YouTube videos, newsletters, and free eBooks) are also a nice touch, especially for those who want to get up to speed on immigration processes.
That said, while those are informative, some people might prefer more personalised support instead of relying on online content. It’s a convenient option, but it doesn’t replace the need for in-depth, one-on-one guidance in some cases.
This firm is fantastic and very professional
“This firm is fantastic and very professional. They helped me receive a work permit for my tax business so that it can expand into Canada. I appreciated their care and preparation, and conservative approach, making sure there were no surprises at the border. The result was the best outcome that they said could be achieved. I appreciate the style of being conservative in their promises in order to over-deliver.”
-Phil Tasto, Google review
You can’t go wrong with them!
“Ackah business immigration law firm is as professional as they are efficient. I contacted them when I felt stuck in my immigration processes, and they advised, put in my applications and got results in less than half the time they said it required for such processes. You can’t go wrong with them”

5. YA Law Corporation

Address: 938 Howe St #504
Phone: +1 604-620-9598
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
YA Law Corporation stood out to us because it’s led by Homa Yahyavi, a lawyer who’s licensed in both British Columbia and the US. This rare cross-border expertise makes them a great choice for anyone dealing with immigration issues in both countries.
A family we spoke to shared that Homa helped them resubmit a much stronger application after their US spousal sponsorship was initially rejected. This showed us how detail-oriented Homa is when handling cases.
Clients also mentioned that they appreciate their personalised service. The team takes the time to understand each client’s unique situation and tailors their approach to meet specific needs.
We also like how transparent their pricing is. They offer flat-rate fees for most of their services, which clients love because it removes the guesswork when it comes to costs.
That said, for more complex cases that involve multiple areas of law, they do charge hourly rates. This is explained upfront, though, so you don’t have to worry about paying more than you can.
One little downside is the consultation fee of $500 CAD (plus tax). While this amount is credited toward future legal fees if you choose to move forward with them, it might feel like a barrier for those who are still exploring their options.
Very generous with her time and expertise
“Such a nice lawyer. She was incredibly patient with my questions and was kind despite the difficult immigration backdrop. Very generous with her time and expertise. Thank you, Homa!”
-Emily Lambert, Google review
The team is experienced, professional, and dedicated
“Homa and her team are very experienced, professional and dedicated. She helped me with my husband’s Permanent Resident application to Canada. I highly recommend her to whoever is looking for an Immigration lawyer. A great Immigration team to have on your side”
