Level Up Your Home with the Best Flooring Companies in Vancouver

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Service Variety - We explored each company’s website and contacted their teams to confirm the range of flooring options they provide, from hardwood and laminate to carpet and vinyl.
  • Quality of Materials - We reviewed customer testimonials and asked the companies directly about their material sourcing, prioritising those known for using durable and high-quality products.
  • Customer Experience - We called and visited the companies to evaluate their responsiveness, professionalism, and how well they address questions and concerns.
  • Installation Process - We asked for detailed explanations of their installation methods and timelines, ensuring they met industry standards and offered efficient services.
  • Reputation and Reviews - We read reviews from multiple platforms and asked previous customers about their experiences to validate each company’s reliability and customer satisfaction.

Here’s the thing about floors: they do a lot for us. They’re where our kids learn to crawl, where our pets zoom around like they’ve had three espressos, and where we collapse after a long day, wondering why we didn’t invest in comfier socks.

But when your floors are looking more tired than you feel on a Monday morning, it’s time to call in the experts.

We know this because we’ve been there – walking around on floors that looked like they had a fight with a hammer and lost. So, we decided to do something about it.

We’ve scoured the city (and maybe spent too much time geeking out over hardwood versus laminate) to find the best flooring companies that can turn your space into something you’ll actually want to show off.

How much does it cost to install flooring in Vancouver?

On average, installing flooring in Vancouver costs approximately $2.50 to $22 per square foot.

However, this price can vary depending on the type of flooring and any additional services required.

1. XL Flooring

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Website

We’re suckers for a good origin story, and we loved learning that  XL Flooring started as a family business back in 2001 over on Canada’s West Coast. Since then, they’ve clearly become a major player in the LVT game.

We were even more impressed when we learned they were the pioneers behind Tight-Fit, no-adhesive LVT flooring in North America.

But what really caught our eye was the sheer variety of styles they offer.  Over 70 colours and textures? We were blown away. No matter what your design aesthetic is, they’ve got something that’ll perfectly match your vision.

And it’s not just about looks; we really appreciate their commitment to quality. They use solid-sheet vinyl sourced from Korea, and everything is FloorScore certified to ensure good indoor air quality. That’s a big deal for us.

Now, we’re not going to sugarcoat things – we did come across a few online comments mentioning some not-so-great customer service experiences over the phone.

But here’s the thing: their online portal is so incredibly user-friendly and comprehensive that it almost makes up for it.  You have access to everything they could possibly need: stock checks, order placement, training materials, and even detailed brochures and installation guides.

Pros

  • Pioneers of Tight-Fit LVT
  • Huge Selection
  • Durable & High-Quality
  • FloorScore Certified
  • Excellent Online Portal

Cons

  • Customer Service Issues

Supports both commercial and residential installations

“Not sure about the review below but I use this flooring professionally and it is by far the best of the products out there.  I have installed it in my own apartment as well as using it in many hotels.  Proper floor prep should always be done but I suspect they must have used a thinner product and not the 5mm XL Flooring product.  I prefer release glue for commercial use but have no problem with the perimeter glue down in residential applications.”

-Vicki Pearson, Google Review

Excels in quality when installation guidelines are followed

“By far XL Flooring produces some of the best Glue-Down LVP and LVT products available.   The problems some people report are almost always installation related.  You need to follow the directions, use and approved adhesive, follow the instructions on the adhesive label, make sure the planks are snugged up against each other, etc.  But it is very easy to do and the flooring is very durable.  It looks beautiful too. Too many installers think that they can install anything just because they’ve been installing floors for 20+ years.  No matter your experience level, you need to read and follow the directions.  If you do, you will be very happy with the results.”

We were doing some digging around for reliable flooring companies in Vancouver, and CMO Flooring kept popping up.  We decided to do a little more investigating, and honestly, we can see why they’re so well-regarded.

They’ve been around since 2004, which says a lot in a competitive market like Vancouver.

One of the things that stood out to us was the range of flooring they work with – everything from vinyl and laminate to engineered hardwood.

It’s nice to have options, right? And when we saw that their installers are all NWFA certified, we knew they were serious about quality. We always appreciate it when companies hold themselves to high standards.

We also noticed that they’re members of HAVAN and CHBA, which is another good sign. Plus, knowing that WorkSafe BC covers their installers and that they have comprehensive liability insurance definitely gives us peace of mind.

When we looked into the brands they carry, we were happy to see names like Elgin, Vidar, and Simba. It’s clear they partner with reputable suppliers.  We love that they offer on-site consultations and same-day estimates, too.

However, we did come across a few online comments mentioning some potential delays with projects, so that’s something to be aware of.

Pros

  • Years of Experience
  • Certified Professionals
  • Industry Recognition
  • Safety-Conscious
  • Convenient Service

Cons

  • Potential Delays

Floors Depot piqued our interest recently when we were searching for flooring options with a bit more personality.

But what really drew us in was their diverse selection. Sure, they have your standard hardwood and vinyl, but they also have some really cool options like cork, marmoleum, and even bamboo. It’s refreshing to see a company that goes beyond the basics.

They also have a team of experienced installers who can handle everything from demolition and subfloor prep to the meticulous refinishing of hardwood floors.

We also spent some time on their website, and we have to say, it’s incredibly user-friendly. You can easily find all the info you need on their products and services, and they even have a handy online form for requesting estimates.

However, we did have a few chats with customers who mentioned some less-than-ideal experiences trying to reach them by phone.  Apparently, they got hung up on a couple of times, which isn’t exactly a good look.

  • Family-Owned & Established
  • Wide Variety
  • Full-Service
  • Reputable Brands
  • User-Friendly Website

Cons

  • Phone Communication Issues

Provides a friendly and approachable team for an enjoyable experience

“Floors Depot totally transformed my house, and I couldn’t be happier. They took out all the old carpet and replaced it with vinyl planks, and it honestly feels like a new space now. The team was awesome – super professional, quick, and really detail-oriented. The whole process was smooth, and the results were even better than I imagined. If you’re thinking about redoing your floors, I’d definitely recommend them!”

“I couldn’t be happier with the job Floors Depot did in my old house! They replaced all the hardwood flooring, and it completely transformed the space. The whole process was smooth, and they were so detail-oriented – it was clear they really knew what they were doing. Plus, knowing they have a contractor licence and $5 million in liability insurance gave me a lot of peace of mind. The team was super friendly and easy to work with. Ethical Flooring Ltd. –  the name itself got us curious. Were they all talk and no walk? We dug a little deeper and, honestly, we were pleasantly surprised.

They carry some of our favourite brands like Mirage and Kentwood. But it wasn’t just the variety that impressed us; it was their transparency and ethical sourcing.

Knowing that our flooring choices are good for the planet and our health is a big deal for us. We also loved that they have actual designers on staff to help you navigate all those options.

Free consultations? Yes, please.  And if you’re not into the whole in-person thing, they have a super easy online booking system for video or showroom appointments.

Now, we’re not going to lie, we did stumble across a few online reviews that mentioned some less-than-stellar customer service experiences. A couple of people reported encountering some rude staff members, which is a bummer.

Creates beautiful and high-quality oak floors for lasting impressions

“Excellent experience with Ethical Flooring.  During our recent home renovation we  needed new hardwoods for the entire main floor.  Nader was very knowledgeable and patient – he is extremely professional and really knows everything about flooring!  We were very glad to work with someone local and trustworthy.  We made many trips in to the showroom so the convenience made it easy.  The installer Istvan was excellent and had incredible attention to detail.  The new engineered hardwood oak floors look amazing!!  Highly recommend.”

Instals carpets with precision and care for flawless results

“We recently had carpet installed in our little bedroom and walk in closet by Ethical Flooring. We would like to thank the project manger Nader and the installer Mohammad as we couldn’t be happier with the service we received. Everything was organised and communicated effectively. We were not home at the time of installation and when we returned home from work we found everything perfect and clean. Fast, efficient, and highly recommended!”

Legacy Custom Floors is a name that didn’t really grab us at first. It sounded a bit… stuffy, maybe? But we decided to give them a chance, and we’re glad we did.

Turns out, they’re certified by both the NWFA and the BCFCA, which, in flooring terms, is like having a black belt in karate.

We love how they breathe new life into your old hardwood floors, create a custom concrete masterpiece, and even help you design a space that’s totally you.

Now,  we did hear some quote-related hiccups. Apparently, some customers ended up paying more than they initially expected due to missing details in the estimate.

So, if you’re considering Legacy Custom Floors, our advice is to be a super sleuth and get a super detailed quote upfront.

Pros

  • Certified Experts
  • Versatile Services
  • Skilled Craftsmen

Cons

  • Quoting Issues

Offers competitive pricing without compromising quality

“Really great experience with Legacy Custom Floors. Max is very easy to work with, kind and professional. He understands and respects your budget, he truly listens to what you want. Very competitive pricing. Friendly and competent installers. Overall very positive experience, highly recommend!”

Goes above and beyond to support local businesses

“I am opening a small business on the north shore and needed some thick rubber tiles cut down to size, I had called a few flooring companies before I reached out to Legacy Custom Floors and no one would do it because it was too small of a job and not worth their time. When I got a hold of Max from Legacy custom floors he was so beyond kind and offered to do the job for me for free because the business is committed to taking care of people on the north shore. He picked up the tiles and even delivered them back to me, they fit perfectly. When I have any flooring needs in the future I will 100% be using Legacy Custom Floors. I cant emphasise enough how much they helped me out, such great people who actually follow through on their commitment to take care of people on the North Shore.”
